Lahat ng Kabanata ng Awakening the White Wolf: Kabanata 241 - Kabanata 250

Kiara's POV I didn’t remember leaving the hall, and deep down, I didn't know if I was grateful or not. Perhaps it was my body's way of trying to protect me, or perhaps it was just me being cowardly enough to accept the truth in one go. Whatever it was, it hit me square in the face and when I wasn't expecting it. One moment I was standing there, frozen as Darius’s words carved through me like knives, and the next, I was running, anywhere that wasn’t there. For the next couple of seconds, the only sound that could be heard was my boots thumping against the ground in quick succession. Air burned in my lungs, as the corridors blurred around me. My vision kept swimming between the faces in the crowd and his, those cold, steady eyes that had looked straight through me when he said her name. Tamia.I'd never disliked someone faster than I did her, and all it took for that to happen, was the mere mention of her name. Maybe if Darius hadn't announced her as his Luna in front of everyone,

Kiara's POV The sun rose cruelly bright the next morning, as if mocking the darkness that had settled inside me. I didn't want to wake up. As absurd as it'd sounded, I pleaded with the moon goddess to strike me dead in my sleep. At least that way, I wouldn't have to face the nightmare that had become my new reality. Tamia was going to be the new Luna, and not me. Darius had chosen someone else, because I was simply living in a fantasy that I thought we could be together. Because I thought the mate bond actually meant something. I was stupid. Very, very stupid. Even after the sun had risen hours ago, I didn't move. I couldn't bring myself to move. I knew bed rotting all day wasn't going to do me any good, so after summoning all the courage I could, I finally muttered the strength to push myself out of the room. A little sunshine was going to help. All I needed to do was avoid Darius and Tamia, or anything that would remind me of them. I had barely gotten to the gardens when a

Kiara's POV Nighttime couldn't have come any faster, and when it eventually did, best believe a part of me didn't almost believe it. Hell, I didn't want to imagine what my life would look like if I remained here, and that was all the motivation I needed to get things done. I waited till the moon was high and the castle was eerily quiet before I started packing. I didn’t take much, just a small bag, a few clothes, and whatever dignity I had left. If the need for something else arise out there, then I was just going to find a solution. The room looked hollow when I was done, like it had already forgotten me, and maybe that was for the best. I didn’t want to leave pieces of myself here to rot along with the memories. My hands shook as I folded the last shirt, the one that still carried his scent. At this point, I wasn't sure if it originally belonged to me, or I'd snagged it after one of our little trysts. Either way, it didn't matter anymore. I stared at it too long before for

Kiara’s POV Time dragged in that room, and I hated how my mind still hadn't clocked if it was a good thing or not. I couldn’t tell if it had been hours or minutes since he left, but if there was one thing I was sure of, it was the fact that every second stretched longer than the last. The bulb above me flickered like it was gasping for air, and each time it went dim, I prayed it would die and take me with it.But it never did. Instead, it burned brighter each time it went off and came on again, its light spilling into my eyes. If I didn't know any better I wouldn't be surprised if the damn light was being messed with by someone else. Their boss or whoever that was had obviously come in here to rattle me earlier, so what if this was just an extended part of it? I didn't know who these men were, but I wouldn't put it past them to try somethin, hopefully, whatever they had planned for me, wouldn't be too bad. I hoped. The chances of that happening was close to non existent, but I

Darius' POV I tightened the straps on my cloak because standing still in one place felt like betrayal, not that it needed any fixing. In the last couple of minutes, I was sure I'd adjusted it over a million times, and my hair? I didn't even want to get into that yet. I'd run my hand through it so many times I was beginning to have a headache. But was I going to argue least step out to get done drugs? Not a chance. I wasn't going to take a single step until I got what I wanted. The courtyard smelled of cord wood smoke and sweat, the pack gathered in small, nervous knots that shied away from my gaze. I had thought the night would be about orders and retrieval, firm, efficient, but the way the dawn light slashed across the stone made everything feel raw and fragile. Kiara should have been here, a part of that crowd too, even though she hated me now, and the truth that she wasn't, burned like acid.Footsteps echoed from behind, and without turning to find out who it was, I already kn
