EMMA'S POV Grinning from ear to ear, I breathed in the familiar scent of my mate as I reached for his office door. I didn't really know why, but whenever I felt his presence near me, all my worries disappeared. I used my left hand to smooth down my hair and then tucked a few loose strands behind my ear before giving a soft knock on the door. “Come in,” came his deep voice. Grabbing the door handle, I slowly pushed the door open and peeked my head inside, only to see Darrell sitting at his desk with his eyes locked on his laptop screen. He seemed completely immersed in whatever he was doing. “Hey, baby,” I said softly. His head snapped up as he heard my voice, and the moment his eyes landed on me, a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. That smile. I don't know why, but it always got me, making my heart swell. “Hey.” I stepped fully into the room and quietly closed the door behind me. “You busy?” I asked, smiling back. “Yeah, a little bit,” he sighed, running a hand throug

If someone had told me six years ago that I'd be living in Brazil, working at one of the most prestigious law firms in the world, I would've laughed in their face, because I never dreamed of working as a lawyer. All I ever wanted was to find my mate and live happily, taking care of him and our pups. I just wanted a simple life, but it seems the moon goddess had other plans for me. Here I am—Emma Wilfred, one of the top associate attorneys at Santiago & Fields. After the rejection and watching Darrell tie the knot six years ago, all I wanted was to disappear, as the embarrassment, mocking stares, whispers, and unbearable shame of being left behind by my mate were just too much for me to endure. It was all coming from everyone, even from my so-called friends. Back then, when I first announced to my friends that Darrell was my mate, they were so happy for me, though other girls were jealous. But I didn't care about what others thought. All I cared about was that at least I had my frien

She slowly raised her head, and the pain in her eyes nearly broke me. "Everyone was talking about their dad today. They always talk about it, but... today just seemed a little bit too much." Her voice was barely above a whisper now. "What happened today, sweetie?" I pressed gently, stroking her cheek. "We had to draw our families for art class," she said, her bottom lip quivering. "Everyone drew their mommies and daddies. Cara kept asking why I was only drawing one person. She... she said maybe my daddy didn't want me." My heart shattered into a million pieces. "Oh, Hailey..." I pulled her into a tight hug, my hand cradling her head as tears streamed down my face. The truth was really hard for me to say. What am I going to tell her? That her father was the kind of man who would choose power over us? That her father is happily married with his real family and doesn't even care about the likes of us? Or what her father's mother and wife did to me? That would hurt too much and break

As I walked down the elegant marble stairs with my arm wrapped around Alex's, I surveyed the entire floor. It had been years since I last attended a party that was full of werewolves and not humans."Okay, I understand yours, but how is it possible I've never seen Mr. Jefferson at any pack meetings?" I whispered to Alex. "If he's truly one of the elders, you'd think he'd be impossible to miss.”Alex whispered back, as we were aware that there were a lot of people here who might be hearing our conversation with their heightened hearing. "That's because he tends to do his own thing, and he always says they're too stuffy for his old wolf with itchy fur.”"I'm still confused."“About what?”"I thought he and his wife aren't on good terms? He wants divorce but his wife doesn't want it, so she filed something like six charges against him including infidelity. But now he's hosting this lavish birthday party for her and they are both smiling happily as if nothing happened? I don't think any o
