The footsteps went back and forth, as if someone was patrolling only that hallway. At certain moments during the night, I could see a shadow passing through the door crack, stopping and then continuing, coming and going. I was so frightened by everything that had happened that I didn’t sleep, watching the sun break through the cloudy London horizon from the window. I was physically and mentally exhausted. My head still hurt a lot, so I went to the bathroom, took a shower, and grabbed some painkillers. Calmer, I put on one of Cassian’s shirts and sat in the armchair.
