~Bethany~   Thirty minutes later, I'm strolling down the hall with them flanking my sides when Mosley rounds a corner ahead of us, pausing at the sight of us. His eyes zip to me before he quickly looks away with a scowl, straightening his blazer. "I take it you three ate at the apartment instead of the dining hall. Would've been nice to know. I was just about to start looking for your bodies. There have been a few in Crestbane's halls this morning." "Did you hear that, Sad? Icicle was worried about us," Jay croons. Mosley rolls his eyes. "Die all you want, but don't be late to class." "How patriotic.” Mosley flips him off. I'm only half-listening to their conversation as I watch for other Nobles in the hallways we pass. But as we pass an unfamiliar passageway, I sense that the air is th

~Bethany~  After Jay left with Serarion, Professor Howard stormed outside, surveying the still-smoking field with unease as he approached. The other Nobles have regrouped; some of them have some burns, and plenty of them are giving my Pack dirty looks. The coach stops and glares directly at me, opening his mouth. I'm anticipating he'll make some dramatic statement about Proselytes not worthy of being mated to highly-ranked Nobles. But then he sees the deathly stare Mosley is cutting him, and apparently thinks better of it. Turning to all the other Nobles, he snaps, "Training will begin in fifteen minutes, injuries or no injuries, so get yourselves patched up and prepare for one-on-one combat." I glance at Mosley, noting that his ear is still bleeding. "Let me help you with that," I offer, but he moves away from me and brushes

~Jayan~ The first time I was hit by silver was when I visited my father while he was playing guard at the Tether, and some Nobles had planned a coup against him. I got an emergency magical transport back home, and all night long, I couldn’t stop screaming as they had to dig the tiny pieces of silver out of my entire body. Still, the amount of silver pellets in my body right now can't be compared to then. Holy motherfucking hell, this hurts. I'm starting to lose consciousness, probably because I'm leaking blood like a faucet. But I fight against blacking out because, as far as I know, we're still under attack, and that means I need to make sure Bethany is safe. I just have to get through this searing agony and ignore my inner dragon, who's throwing a fit inside my head with no possible way of getting out to get revenge.

~Bethany~Professor Stone begrudgingly awards us points for winning against our rival Pack.Other Packs and groups emerge one by one from Crestbane Forest, most heavily injured and exhausted, and some missing entirely.I'm aware that my blood-drenched clothes are earning me some suspicious looks, just as I'm aware of how Asad subtly steps in the way to block me from the sight of other Nobles. He has clearly put together that I don't want other Nobles to know how dangerous I am.Finally, training is over, and everyone limps back to the university buildings. Some are carried or dragged by their mates, members of their allied groups, or their Pack members. As they go, I spot the real Olga with her Pack out of the corner of my eye. She leans heavily on a female Noble and cries quietly.Whatever happened, I'm just glad she's alive.I still need to track down Zadrick and get answers, but that will have to wait until tomorrow after I've safely gotten Zuri back.As we step back into Crestbane

~Bethany~Jayan moans against me, and the vibrations tickle before he begins licking and sucking so ravenously that I squeeze my own eyes shut, the burning heat of arousal dancing low in my stomach. The sounds of pleasure Jay makes as he feasts are absolutely filthy, and I can't get enough. Finally, I refuse to wait any longer and move down his body, adjusting on my knees until I can rub the leaking head of his throbbing erection against my entrance.“Bethany,”He gasps my name brokenly, his hands fisting the sheets on either side of us. "Bethany. Fuck, baby. Are you wet enough? I really don't want to hurt you. Let me just-""I'm not waiting anymore, Jayan," I say breathlessly."Damn it, I…I need to see my mate when she takes me for the first time. Please let me see your face. Please."The rough gravel of his voice is absolutely addictive. It's even more addictive when he says please.I've decided that's the sexiest sound of begging. I like it so much that I continue to tease him, doi
