Reina’s POVI peeped through the hallway, there was no one. The guards were gone, there was no servant or maid and I was in here alone. I couldn’t stay. I had to go to the garden. My wolf was crying and weeping. “Let’s go see our mate in the garden.”“If possible, help him.” Though I was reluctant at first as I couldn’t bear to see my mate being whipped, I succumbed. Seeing me burst out of my hiding place, at least the punishment would stop. I followed the left hallway which I felt was closer to the garden. It wasn’t hard to navigate as Julian showed me the garden while coming here. Standing inside my apartment, I could see it but not clearly.I had to reduce my pacing as I reached it, to avoid being detected. There was a corner with a little netted window overseeing the garden where someone could pretty much hide and watch what was going on. They weren’t far from here. “Come on, pull off your clothes. We will make sure that the princess never comes close to you again.” Hearing th

Reina’s POVI tried remaining calm in my room but couldn't, the words Sirens made in the call continued to disturb me that I felt I had to do something. I didn't want Julian going away. If everyone thought he had finished his duty by bringing me safely here, he was far from done. I needed to see him everyday, know he's there to protect me and know that he really loves me so much. So I put on my veil buttoning my habit. Looking at myself in the mirror to check out I was okay, I left my room. It was so lonely, I didn't like this. Before, Julian would be keeping me company but now Sirena, whatever she called herself, had taken him. A noble lady isn't supposed to carry more influence than the princess herself. And for her information, I wasn't snatching Julian from her, he happens to be my mate and belongs to me. I returned to the dining room where I saw a servant cleaning the table after he must have taken the dishes away. Seeing me, he bowed low but I gestured on him to rise. “Where

Reina’s POV He grunted in response, holding me tighter, his pace never faltering. It was rough, passionate, and overwhelming. And beautiful. My wolf howled deep inside, soaring toward him, trying to merge with his soul. I came first, my back arching off the bed, my voice loud as everything inside me shattered. He followed not long after, groaning against my skin, collapsing over me, his body shaking with release. We stayed like that for a while, tangled in each other, hearts pounding, bodies damp with sweat and emotion. His hand stroked my hair gently. I could feel the way his chest rose and fell against mine. Steady now. Calmer. “I love you,” I whispered. “And I don’t care what anyone says. I was made for you.” “I know,” he whispered back, brushing my cheek with his fingers. “But I have to go.” Tears welled in my eyes again. I pressed my forehead against his. “Then why come tonight? Why make it hurt more? Especially after this?” “Because,” he said softly, “I needed to see you

Reina’s POV “He’s not a guy,” I snapped. “He’s my mate!” That made them pause. The guard’s face hardened. “Then he’s even more of a threat.” Two of them stepped forward. Julian reached for my hand. “Stay behind me. No matter what happens.” “No!” I clung to him, shaking my head. “I’m not going anywhere without you!” But they didn’t care. In seconds, two guards seized me from behind, pulling me away from him roughly. I screamed and kicked, shouting his name. “Julian!” “Reina!” Our hands slipped apart. My nails scratched at empty air as they dragged me back, and I could only watch in horror as more guards closed in around him. “No—don’t touch him! Please, he didn’t do anything!” Julian didn’t resist. He stood tall, his eyes locked on mine. “Don’t watch,” he mouthed, just as the first blow landed. A sickening crack echoed through the air as a fist slammed into his jaw. I screamed. “No! Stop! Please!” My voice broke with hysteria. “He’s innocent! I begged him to take me—this is

Reina’s POVThe halls of the palace were quiet as they took us away.Julian’s breath was heavy beside me. He tried to walk straight, even with bruises blooming across his face and blood crusted along his shirt collar. His wrists were still bound. He didn’t look at me, but I could feel him—his presence steady, like a shield I could no longer touch. The guards led us down a path I didn’t recognize. Past the throne chamber, beyond the courtyards and guest halls, deeper into the stone belly of the palace. This wasn’t the way to the dungeons. This was worse. We stopped before a tall wooden door reinforced with iron. One of the guards knocked twice. The door creaked open, and I felt a chill run down my spine. It was the High Chamberlain’s room.I had only learnt about once from a book I read before in the Convent’s library. This served for royal ceremonies. For discipline. This was no longer about disappointment. This was judgment. They shoved Julian inside first. I followed quickly before
