Maya's POV.“Is everything okay?” I winced. Pain still shot at my side, my lungs clogged from the thick fog.Across the Alpha's hallway sat most of his maids, their faces were red with pain, they tucked their chest, coughing painfully.“Is everyone fine?”“Yes!”“Yes!”“Yes!”“I'm fine.”My fur dissolved gently into my skin, my jaw retreating as my human face took shape.I inhaled a sharp breath, the horror of seeing many bodies dropping beyond the protective bunker doors flashed before me.My shoulder shuddered with fear. It was a horrible sight to witness. My head twisted from side to side. In all my running, I recalled not seeing Sarah. Where was she?The distraught faces there lowered to the floor, most of them leaned their heads back as they caught their breaths.I searched all the women there. None of their faces belonged to my sister. Sarah wasn't present with us.“Has anyone seen my sister?”Their grimacing faces turned in every direction.“She's not here.”‘Of course she wo

Maya's POV.He froze. My eyes quickly lowered to his chest as I searched for signs of belief. His chest pulsated, his pupils dilated. His cheeks turned red but I wasn't so sure it was from what I was saying.“Alpha Williams, did you hear what I said?”“Yes.”“You don't believe me, do you?”“I-I just think you need to take a little break. Your sister made mistakes in the past and yes, she might have tried to get at you before but accusing her of taking down my pack… that's just….”He was in doubt. Serious doubt.“I'm telling you the truth. Sarah, Thomas and Logan had everything to do with the attack that happened yesterday.”“Yeah.” He was gentle. “I think you need to relax a little with your sister. False accusations is just below the belt.”Below the belt?My jaw dropped faster than another bomb.“You think I'm falsely accusing her? I'm not. I heard her— I saw Logan, alpha Thomas and her. They were just outside the pack. I can take you there, I can show you.”“Enough!” Williams bark

Maya's POV “I found something else.” The maid scuffled as she reached for her bag.A book. She uncovered the pages, a drawing of something ominous.“What is this?”“I don't know. I just saw Mary holding it. She tucked it into her pockets. I thought you would want to know about it.”I slid her book to me, tilting my head for a better view. My eyes narrowed down.“It looks like a star.”“It was purple.”“Okay.” I stared more intensely. “What was she doing with it?”“She came out of Sarah's room with it. I'm not sure what it is for but I think Madam Sarah asked her to take it to the forest.”“Did she?”She swung her head. “I couldn't see. I was called to clean and when I returned, she was gone. I trailed her to the house I found her before but I couldn't find her there.”“You think they have another hideout?”She sunk her teeth into her lower lip, her eyes lowered to the picture.“I think so. ““Can you find it?”She twisted the hem of her apron, her lips pouting.“I can try.”“Good. Th

Maya's POV“Nothing! Nothing at all. We were just speaking to her. It's been a while since I saw her, you know?”Alpha Williams kept a neutral gaze.“And you dragged her to the woods still because you wanted to see her?”“Y-yes.” Thomas nodded too, “I thought we would have a little chat here, away from the prying eyes of everyone.”“You sound unreasonable.” Williams mocked. “But I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Go ahead. Talk to her.”He looked behind him into my eyes, "Stand next to Thomas, I want to hear what he has to say.”I felt my tensed shoulders relax. The knot in my stomach uncurled, the air in the forest didn't feel as hot as it did before.I sank my foot beside Thomas, his presence intimidating but I didn't mind.“Go on. Speak.” The alpha King's voice was firm with concern.Thomas shifted in his stance, he threw a knowing glance at Sarah. “I guess… Now that you're here, there would be no need to insist on speaking to her. I've seen her already, I think I can leav

Maya's POV.I caught sight of it.“Is that—No.Time froze but not it.I watched with a slightly opened mouth as the alpha’s budge moved…Thunder struck in a distance. I shrieked, lunging forward into his arms.“Oh my goodness…” I gasped. My heart plummeted. I felt it.“I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to–“Oh goodness, alpha Williams, I'm so sorry please. I didn't mean to…”Williams stood frozen in time. He tore from my gaze, his butt left the chair. He went as far as he could from me. The door by the edge. The window. Confusion flickered in his movement as he stood deciding where to go, his back to me.Finally, he turned to me.“I didn't…”“I didn't mean for that to happen…”“I-I…I didn't mean for that to happen. I'm so sorry please.”I swallowed hard. “Uhmmm… I don't even…”The knot in my stomach doubled in size.“I’m sure it was a mistake.”“Or maybe he wants to mate.” Melissa whispered.“Shut up!”His eyes widened. “Excuse me?”I turned to find Alpha Williams looking at me with his e
