"What do you think you're doing, Anderson?" Anders huffed, jamming his hands into his pockets. "Nothing, officer. Just giving the lady a nice Elko welcome." His friends seemed terrified of Kennedy as well, they kept their faces fixed to the table, avoiding his glare. I wondered if his demeanour changed whenever he wore the uniform, or if this was his true character. I didn't know what to make of it, but I was grateful that he stepped in when he did. "She's already gotten enough of that," Kennedy's voice cut through the air like a blade through silk, "whatever you're doing now is nothing welcoming I'm sure."
