I open my eyes to see a lanky man in a grey suit tap on the microphone and anticipation settles in the pit of my stomach as the ceremony begins. He flashes the audience an innocent and sweet smile and I smile back, feeling giddy. “This is going to be great.” I mutter inaudibly, pressing the purse to my body.Every anger I felt on my way here dissipated the moment I stepped inside the room and now I can’t remember anything that transpired.“Thank you for gracing this event with your presence. This wouldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support.” He adjusts his tie, clearing his throat. As he speaks, his eyes dart around the room, sweat beading on his forehead. A new text from her pings my phone and I rake my fingers through my hair at the content.‘Stop calling. I have no idea where he is.’ I fling the phone onto the bed and puff out an air of frustration, pacing around the room. Ever since my meeting with Jeremy at the café, every attempt to reach him had proven futile. Without hesitation, I pull my top over my head and drop it on the bed, storming into the bathroom. After a while, I step out of the steaming hot shower and dry myself with a towel, motioning up almost instantly.I fish out a black T-shirt from the closet and put it on, not bothering to do my hair. What were you hoping to get? I cock my head over my shoulder to get a glimpse of the creature snoring softly behind me.Clamping my lips shut in order to not wake him up, I try to wiggle my way out of his grip but it proves futile as he pulls me back into him, his arm crawling up my neck.A gasp leaves my lips, my eyes widening when I realize he’s trying to trap me in. I grab his hand and try to peel it off me, my heart racing rapidly when he tightens his grip.As if sensing my uneasiness, he lifts his hands off my body and moves back, the bed dipping with his movement. Another wave of anger crashes through me and I lift my knee, sending it flying into his leg.
