The courtyard was quiet now, except for the soft murmurs of the pack and the distant sound of Killian and Uncle Benard being dragged away in chains.“Catherine,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Please forgive me. I was wrong, and I was afraid. Killian promised me things. He said he would protect me if I helped him. And I thought if you were gone, everything would be better. But I was stupid. Killian and his father, Benard, were dragged down the narrow steps by four strong warriors. Silver chains bound their wrists, burning their skin with every movement.
