Melissa’s POV“Come here, Melissa.” His voice was quiet. Too quiet.I stood in the doorway, my heart pounding, every instinct in my body screaming at me to run.Gavin sat on the couch in the darkness, illuminated only by the soft glow of the Christmas tree lights. He held a coffee mug in one hand, he looked casual, and very relaxed. But his eyes…those piercing blue eyes…were locked on me with an intensity that made my blood run cold. This wasn’t the Gavin who’d held me gently in the hidden room. This wasn’t the Gavin who’d looked at me with warmth when I opened my Christmas present. This was something else. And he was dangerous.“I… I should go to bed,” I said, my voice coming out shaky. “It’s late and…”“Sit. Down.”The command in his voice made me flinch.I took a hesitant step forward, then stopped. My body was screaming at me. Every nerve. Every instinct.Run.RUN.I’d learned a long time ago to trust that instinct. My father had taught me that before he died…when something feels

Melissa’s POVThe cuffs felt cold and heavy on my wrists. Gavin clicked them shut, locking them to the headboard. My arms stretched up high, pulling my body tight. I couldn’t move much. My back arched a little, pushing my breasts out. My legs fell open. I was bare, wet, and I couldn’t do anything but wait for him.He stood at the end of the bed. His eyes roamed over me slowly as he undressed his beautiful tattoo coming into view making my pussy clench at just the sight of him . He was naked now, his cock hard and thick, pointing up. Veins stood out along its length. I licked my lips without thinking.“You know the word,” he said, his voice deep and calm.“Red,” I whispered back.He nodded. Then he climbed onto the bed, kneeling between my thighs. He didn’t touch me right away. He just looked at me. His gaze felt like a touch, making my skin hot.“You’re so wet already,” he said. “Dripping down your thighs. All for me.”I felt my face get warm. He was right. I could feel the slickness

Diana’s POVI woke to an empty room. The sheets beside me were cool to the touch. Gavin was gone, I don’t think he returned to bed at all last night.I sat up slowly and reached for my robe draped across the chair. The silk slid over my skin as I tied it at my waist, the fabric made soft rustling sounds in the quiet room. The penthouse was silent.I walked out of the bedroom, my bare feet soundless on the plush carpet. The hallway stretched before me, dim in the early morning light. Christmas lights still twinkled on the tree in the living room, casting everything in soft gold.“Gavin?” I called softly.Nothing.I moved through the house quietly. His office door was closed, but when I pushed it open, the room was dark and still. No one was around. I walked to the kitchen counter and stood there, my hands resting on the cool marble.“He’s gone to get ice cream,” I said to the empty room.A smile curved my lips. Then I started laughing. It was soft at first, then it got louder. The soun

Melissa’s POVIn the hallway, I finally let out the breath I’d been holding. My chest felt tight. I remember what Jason told me, but he kind of made it seem like Gavin was heartless, but I choose to trust Gavin.“She’ll be fine.”“Will she?” I asked quietly.“Yes.” His thumb brushed across my knuckles. “Kane is… difficult. But he’s good at what he does. And what he does is protect people.”“He barely knows her.”“Sometimes that doesn’t matter.” His blue eyes met mine. “Sometimes you just know.”I thought about the party where we’d first met. The kiss that had started everything. The way my entire world had tilted the moment our eyes met.“Yeah,” I whispered. “Sometimes you just know.”He pulled me closer, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “Trust me, Piccola. She’s safer with Kane.”I wanted to believe him. I needed to believe him.“Give me a second,” I said, pulling away gently. His eyebrow raised. “Melissa…”“Just one second. Please, my love.”He studied my face for a moment, then nodde

Gavin’s POVThe drive to the airport was quiet. Diana sat in the passenger seat, with her hands folded in her lap, staring out the window. I kept my eyes on the road, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on the gear shift.Traffic was light this early in the morning. The city was just beginning to wake up…streetlights still glowing against the pale dawn sky, a few early commuters on the sidewalks.I pulled up to the departures terminal and put the car in park. The two guards I’d assigned were already waiting, they stood at a respectable distance.I got out and took her suitcase from the trunk. When I turned, Diana was standing beside the car, with her coat wrapped tight around her, that bright smile firmly in place.“Thank you for driving me,” she said.I set the suitcase down beside her. “Be safe. Please. And if you need anything…anything at all…you can call me.”“I will.” Her smile softened. “I promise.”She leaned in to kiss me.I turned my face away. Her lips caught my cheek i
