CHAPTER ONE: THROWN AWAY

Elara's POV“Eighteen years! My father, King Aldric roared, shi rage barely concealed. "For eighteen years, Isolde, not a single boy! “"Please, my King," my mother، Queen Isolde mumbled weakly.“Tsh!" he scowled. "All the hundreds of pounds of gold I made your father give you just to take you off of his hands when you were just fourteen? The gold I sow Dr on the wedding? The slaves I presented to your parents just to get you married into my house? And all that for what?”My stomach churned as he humiliated my mother publicly. The councilors shuffled restlessly in their seats, but not one of them was brave enough to speak whilst he spoke, for his rage knew no bounds."I spent so long," he continued. "What did I get for it” He waved his hand at me. “This!” He frowned as his gaze fell upon me, like I was a sore to the eye.At that moment, every single pair of eyes in the room turned to face me."A female!" he spat. "Eighteen years of marriage. Not one boy born! You failed me, Isolde."

CHAPTER TWO: REBEL PRINCESS

Elara's POV“Get her!” A gaurd screamed as soon as I started running but I heard my father’s voice telling him to not waste energy.I didn’t stop , until my legs finally give out. I lean against a rough wooden door. It's a club; it's where people go to drink and forget. I push inside. The air stank with beer and sweat, laughter as bodies crammed together in sinful poses. The big guy at the door put an arm to stop me from going in. I pull off the gold chain around my waist ,iy was under my panties, so the guards didn't catch it. I hold it out. “Get them out” I say, voice trembling and shaky but still firm. “I want the place empty. You can keep this.”He seizes the chain, real wide-eyed at the real thing. “You serious?” he grunts.“I am very serious.” I push past him.He takes one good look at the gold chain and sniffs it. “Out! Everybody out! Place is closed!” He yelled. People complain but they all move out. The door slams shut behind the last one. It gets quiet, except for the fire.

CHAPTER THREE: THE MORNING AFTER

Elara's ViewI was woken up by pain. The floor was cold and hard, with patches of old wine making it sticky . My head was simply killing me, and with every blink, it seemed the pain only increased.Completely lost in thought. My head banged as I wondered why and how was I here? Only then would the view of the guy laying beside me remind me of my dumb decisions and the events that happened the previous day and nights, that fateful day when I decided to ditch the whole princess thing and become somebody else.My lips swollen were swollen , my vagina was sore and it still felt like the man’s dick was inside me, aching thighs and my whole body hurt in places that I did not even know could hurt.Looking down at my pale skin, I saw the man’s hand print, a mocking reminder of how I had given my self and my virginity to a stranger all in a bid to spite the King."Oh God," I said, cradling my head in my hands.I have seriously single handedly my life.I let myself get laid in a club. Whatever

CHAPTER FOUR: MYSTERY KING

ELARA's POV“What the…” I mumbled as I crept closer to hear more but the sounds of footsteps coming down the hall made me change my mind.I sprang back from the door and run-walked down the hall.Back in my room,I panted for breath. I sat on the bed, contemplating what I had just eavesdropped on."A new man for you."What the hell does that mean? My grandfather was definitely talking to my nother . Does he intend to marry her off even to another ridiculous person, was it?Before I could think about it even further, a knock ik the door startled me."My Lady," one of the maids said."Dinner is ready and your mother and grandparents have invited you to join them." She said and walked away without a reply.I sighed, stood up, and ran my fingers through my hair. I quickly changed into something simple, that a maid had left out for me. "Perfect," I said under my breath, forcing a smile that didn't reach my eyes. I walked down to the dining hall, the long dining table stood. Grandfather, as

CHAPTER FIVE: STRANGER KING

The Elara's POV“My lady.” The maids repeated, waking me from my sleep. “My lady, you have to wake up, the king had asked us to get you ready early today. Please wake up.”I was so sleepy that I felt I should not get up at all, but already the bath was ready, and the dress was laid out: they made me sit properly as they washed and dressed me. It felt so odd to be treated like a princess when I knew deep down that it wasn't true anymore. As soon as they finished dressing me, one of them informed me that breakfast was served. I joined them immediately."Everything should be ready by noon," my grandfather said mid-meal. “We leave as soon as all is ready.”"Yes, father," my mother replied with a tone of respect.Afterward, my grandparents left to talk about the new allaince , and my mother went along with them. Not caring which way she went, I stepped outside to get some fresh air.The courtyard was bustling, servants moving about, guards trailing trunks filled with treasures, gold, and si

CHAPTER SIX: CROWN AND THE STRANGER

Elara’s POV“The first thing I noticed was the quiet — not true silence, but the kind that presses against your ears when everyone is holding their breath at once.”The hall was full, yet it felt hollow. Metal shifted, silk whispered, someone coughed into a gloved hand — small sounds that only made the stillness heavier. The air smelled of warm wax, cold stone, and too many people packed into one place for too long.I kept my eyes lowered as we walked.Mother moved beside me like nothing in the world could shake her — spine straight, steps measured, every inch still a queen despite exile, loss, and months on the road. I tried to match her. Tried not to think about the hundreds of eyes following us, weighing us, judging what we were worth now that we had nothing left. Then something — instinct, maybe — made me look up.And the world lurched sideways. At first, I thought I was mistaken. Distance can play tricks. So can torchlight. A crown can turn any man into someone else entirely. But

CHAPTER SEVEN: A DANGEROUS SILENCE

Elara's POVHis silence was not mercy. It was a warning. And long after he walked away from me, long after the echo of his footsteps faded into the cold stone corridors, I remained at that window — staring down at the moonlit gardens as though they might offer clarity. They did not.The roses below were pale under the silver glow, their petals closed tight for the night. Guard patrols moved along the outer walls like shadows, steady and watchful. Everything in this palace had a place. A purpose.Everything except me.I pressed my palm against the cool glass and tried to steady my breathing. He did not regret me.I had seen it in his eyes — in the flicker of something raw when I asked him the question he had not wanted to answer.“That night should never have happened.”I wish it hadn’t.Now I regret it.Just that it should not have happened. There was a difference. And that difference terrified me.Because it meant the feeling still lived between us.And feeling, in a palace like this

CHAPTER EIGHT: QUEEN MOTHER’S GAZE

Elara's POVIf silence was the King’s weapon, then observation was hers.Queen Mother Edyra did not need raised voices or sharp threats. She did not need to humiliate or scold. She simply watched. And being watched by her felt far more dangerous.I felt it before I ever stood in the same room with her again — that sense of being assessed. Measured. Weighed. The days after the banquet passed in a strange, fragile rhythm. Servants attended to me at every hour. My gowns were pressed before I asked. Tea appeared before I realized I was thirsty. Doors opened as I approached. It should have felt like privilege.Instead, it felt like surveillance.Every corridor seemed longer than it had before. Every conversation hushed just a fraction too quickly when I entered. The palace did not breathe easily — it observed. And always, somewhere within its walls, she was there. The Queen Mother rarely addressed me directly in public. She did not need to. Her presence alone carried authority heavy enough

CHAPTER NINE: A MARRIAGE OF APPEARANCES

Elara's POVThe wedding bells began before dawn. They were not light or joyful. They were deep. Measured. Each toll rolled through the palace like a decree carved into stone.I was already awake when they began.I lay still beneath the canopy of my bed, staring at the pale silk above me as the sound settled into my chest. It felt less like celebration and more like inevitability — like the closing of a door that would never open again.Today, my mother would become Queen of Elarion. And the man I had once held in the dark — the man who had whispered my name as though it meant something fragile and sacred — would become untouchable in a way that was no longer thrilling.Only final. The palace came alive quickly after that.Servants hurried through the corridors, arms full of silk banners and white lilies. Gold-threaded cloaks were carried reverently toward the temple chambers. I caught the scent of incense drifting through open windows, thick and ceremonial, mingling with crushed petal

CHAPTER TEN: TRAPPED IN GOLD

Elara’s POVThey told me the rooms were mine. They said it gently—like a kindness. Like a gift. The maids smiled as they carried in my trunks, smoothing the sheets with reverent hands. A steward bowed and informed me the east-facing windows allowed the finest morning light in all of Elarion. A guard assured me I need only ask if I required anything at all.Anything.The doors closed behind them with a soft, deliberate click. And I understood. This was not a welcome. It was containment. The chambers were beautiful in a way that almost hurt to look at. Sunlight poured across polished floors. The bedposts were carved from dark oak, their twisting vines gilded at the edges. Gauze curtains drifted faintly with every whisper of breeze from the inner gardens. Fresh flowers appeared each morning in crystal vases—always white, always pristine, always scenting the air with something too clean to be real. There were books arranged on a lacquered table—histories of Elarion, poetry collections, de
