(Roman)It didn't occur to me, I had left one of my phones at home. I just wanted to make sure she got home safely. Whatever my grandmother said to her, it must have left her so broken that she sought reprieve in a bar.I have been watching the hour hand on my wristwatch, wondering when she's finally going to come out and head home. Although I had instructed Kelvin's nanny to stay behind until she returns, I'm not comfortable with the boy being alone without her by this time.I'm contemplating going inside to fetch her when I see someone walking her to a car. Her steps are wobbly. She looks dizzy, with an uneven gait. I felt something turned inside me. Like a thunder rumbling to life. I don't know why I feel this way at the sight of them together. It can not be jealousy. I feel something more grave, like a hollow in my chest.I was there in a flash, doing something I didn't imagine I would ever do. It took her voice to calm my flared nerves.I apologized and swept her into my arms.“

His voice carried haste, and an aura I haven't seen before. Sleeves rolled, he has his back to the door, and although five people are here before me, it's overwhelmingly quiet. It feels like it would be a crime to cough here. Guy, did I feel like coughing?!Within a minute, I checked the room. Not for vibes. For precaution. The young man, closest to him, about a few feet away, stands like an intermediary between the living and the dead. His hair is so low I wouldn't notice if he went bald already. Met him this morning. Says his name is Asher. And he's Roman's secretary. His countenance makes me think Roman must be a horrible boss. The other four people had their eyes glued to him like he was their saving grace. Oh, does he need saving himself?!Palms sweaty, he hasn't dropped bombs, but I assure you, if he did, with the tension in the room, he will keep forgetting. Even his suit has clung to him like it's his life support.Roman ended his call, and turned to us. It takes seconds for

(Roman)Burying myself in paperwork became the distraction I badly needed. It's been days now. I haven't visited the headquarters, because it hurts to wait for an answer that may never come. Maybe I misread her. I dropped the pen and combed through my hair. The memories are fixing up like a puzzle. Several pieces and connecting dotes are still missing. But here and now, all I want is her.“ Well, then.” I grabbed my keys, pushed the chair back under my sculpted mahogany desk. Dusting off the scent of paper and ink, I stretched and stepped into the car. About to turn the keys, a car drives in.Diana's.“ Honey,” she hurried up to me, and got in beside me. “ You aren't taking my calls."" Your grandmother is worried too.”“ Nice diplomacy,” I smirked inwardly. Not her, but the one piece of the puzzle I haven't accounted for at all — my grandmother. What role does she play in all of these? I remember what Hazel said to her in the hospital.“ Have I done something wrong?” She lifted my

One week, Roman didn't show up in the office. I felt the unanswered phone calls, the uncleared schedule, and the crystal glass of his office walls slapping me at every turn. Do I deserve it?Yes.Samantha met me during the break, carrying a disk.“ You said we girls have to watch over one another. You have to listen to this. Asher has been a good support to me since my first days here, but his kindness to me can not cover what I think he's up to.”That's Roman's secretary. It didn't make sense until the disk was playing to my hearing.I paused it, fighting off the urge to break it.My job is not secure. Especially not now. With Roman's attitude, anything could happen. Diana has Roman's secretary in her workforce. Once more, she has bested me.I recorded off the disk and saved it on my phone. I might need the record someday. Around sunset, I joined Dominic and his friends outside. Today, I am not sitting by Dominic's side. It's Piper.“ Hello,” I sat down without warning. His eyes b

(Roman)Every time I look at my official name, I question my past. Why would I leave in the first place? What could have made me drop the Sullivan family name and adopt my mother's name, Hill. With the puzzle of my memory knitting at the hem, it remains the main question. If I left home, along with everything, something must have driven me away.I hoped I could learn some of the details from what my grandmother said to Hazel. I can't let her suspect my intentions, so I can not probe any further. My only chance now is Diana. If I can get her to talk, I will have my answers.I excused myself from Hazel's office. Good thing my ears are as sharp as a wolf's. It could have gotten a little more awkward if Miss Samantha walked in on us together.I dialed Asher's line and ordered him to prepare a dinner date for Diana and I. I arrived and met Hazel and Diana instead.“ What's going on?” I snapped at Diana, losing the little appetite I had for the meal. She feigned a smile and motioned me to
