Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Enemy's Deal: It's More Than Just a Contract: Kabanata 41 - Kabanata 50

The drive to wherever they were going was a silent one; none of them said anything to each other. The car finally stopped, and they got out. Everywhere was dark now with only the street light illuminating.Leonard moved closer to Valerie and held her by the waist, pulling her closer to him. "We need to convince them," he mumbled.Valerie frowned. Shouldn't he have held her hand instead? She said nothing to him; she did not nod either. She just followed Leonard's lead into the building. They went through the elevator and were soon in a hallway that looked like an endless tunnel.Valerie felt a shiver run down her spine. They walked down the hallway and the more they walked the more worried and scared Valerie felt. The hallway felt hotter also. Finally, they stopped in front of a room, Valerie predicted to be an office or a hall. Her prediction did not work this time; because it wasn't an office or a hall but another elevator. Why walk this long only to be in another elevator? Why can'

"The wedding," Leonard answered. "How do you want the wedding to be like?""I don't think it's in my place to say that," Valerie answered. "Just do your thing and I will be present that day as the bride like I was today at the meeting.""Are you angry?" Leonard asked."I am not," Valerie answered. "Do I even have the right to be?" She mumbled. "I can tell you are.""Like it matters," she mumbled again. "If you don't have anything else to say, I might have to tell you to leave. I need to sleep."Leonard did not say anything. He stood up and walked to the door."I will see you tomorrow when you are no longer angry and ready to listen."Valerie ignored him and he had to leave. After he left, she stood up and locked the door behind him.Why does her opinion suddenly matter? Did he not treat her like it didn't at the meeting a while ago?"He's so unpredictable."Valerie walked to her bed and was about to sit when she heard a knock on the door. She groaned. "Leonard if that is you, I..."

"Valerie has said a lot about you," Elora continued. "She doesn't get close to people or talk about them. For her to talk about you, she must like you a lot. And whoever my friend likes, I also like."Arden rolled his eyes, mimicking Elora's last sentence. He kind of likes their friendship though. They both look out for each other and let others know how much they love themselves.Leonard likes him too; he knows that. He also looks out for him but he can be so unpredictable.Today he is very nice and tomorrow he is like a totally different person.Arden sighed. He can't blame him though. Life made him so."Arden?" Ariel waved. "Come let me introduce you to my new friend, Elora."Arden moved close to them. "Hi, I am Arden, Ariel...""I know you," Elora answered. "We've met before right?""You know me?" Arden asked.Does Elora recognise him? What if Valerie cancels the wedding because of that?"You always go to the club, don't you?" Elora a

As the night drew closer, Valerie began to feel anxious. Tomorrow, she will be getting married to Leonard. With reality setting in, Valerie's heart skipped a bit at the thought of it. She kept staring at the wall clock; a clock that seemed not to be moving.Just yesterday, she had her last fitting. Her shoes and accessories were also brought in. She had worn them, and stood in front of the mirror, admiring how beautiful they were on her."She was ready," she had told herself. But now, she realized she had never been ready and had just been going with the flow. Valerie wished she could change her mind or maybe move the wedding forward a bit; maybe a week or two."Do you think we can move the wedding a bit?" She asked Elora and Ariel. "I don't feel ready."Elora told her she may never feel ready even if the wedding was shifted."Elora is right," Ariel said. "Just get it done once."Valerie could not agree less, she needs to get it done once and for all. But that doesn't stop the fear sh

Leonard moved away, and everyone clapped, smiling happily, while Valerie remained in a daze; the kiss caught her by surprise. The rest of the ceremony was short and when it was announced that it was over, Valerie took a deep breath. Finally!!!Arden went on to announce her as the Pack's new Luna. A lot of people came to congratulate them, giving her a lot of gifts."They are trying to win you over," he whispered to her.Valerie wondered why they would want to win her over. She isn't even his real wife."Be ready to receive more," he added.Valerie scoffed slightly. She doesn't even care about the gifts. He can keep them for his future Luna."When is this ending?" She asked instead. "I mean everything.""Not any time soon," Leonard answered. "You haven't met with the people yet, have you?"Valerie groaned. She thought that after this, she could return home. She feels so tired."Ariel will be here to take you to change," he said. "I am leaving. See you tonight."Valerie blinked. Why doe
