It was Friday, and Paul was walking home from his local community college, feeling relaxed and exhausted from the week behind him. Snowflakes drifted lazily on the wind, and though the sky was overcast, it actually felt rather warm out. Unlike many of his friends, Paul had stuck around his hometown after graduating from high school the year before. He had loathed watching them pack up and take off for exciting new locations, and wished that he could have gone to school somewhere, anywhere, that would have taken him away from the tiny hamlet he’d grown up in.
