FROST POVMaya elbowed me as we left the store, my new work schedule printed on a piece of paper in my hand.“Dude. You got a job. On your first day of actually trying!” She beamed basically prancing around in genuine happiness for me.I was happy too.I looked at the work schedule, my face flushed. I was so happy I thought I would even shed a tear or two.Since I woke up in this world, I was blank, colorless and I thought that maybe there was nothing out there for me but that wasn’t true.I was much more than someone who had amnesia and struggled to get his memories back.So much more than the person who burnt down the kitchen in my attempt to make breakfast, much more than the person who turned the apartment into an ice ring when I was angry or jealous. So much more.“I…I just got lucky. I guess.”“You got perfect!” She linked her arm through mine. “Jackson’s going to be so proud.”The thought made my stomach warm.I couldn’t wait to tell him, to see his face when he realized I was

JACKSON’S POVFriday night, I came home from a late study session to find Frost sitting on the couch with the TV on.Not unusual—he often waited up for me.But something about the way he was sitting, perfectly still with his hands clenched on his knees, made me pause. He didn’t seem okay.“Frost?”He looked up, and his eyes were slightly glowing in the dark.“I had another memory. A nightmare, to be more precise. I’m not sure anymore where the line is between remembering and dreaming.”I sat down beside him, close enough that our shoulders touched. “Tell me.”He took a shaky breath.“There was a man. I’ve been seeing flashes of him for days, but tonight it was clear. His name is Kieran. Dark hair, amber eyes, this playful smile that made everything feel less serious.” His voice softened with affection.“He was my beta. My best friend. My brother in every way that mattered.”“Your beta?”“It’s a pack thing. A beta is the alpha’s second, their right hand. The person who stands beside yo

JACKSON POV“You should go,” I heard myself say, my voice sounding hollow and distant. “Your people need you. You can’t abandon them because of…”I couldn’t even finish the sentence.“Because of you?” Frost stood and walked in front of me, a fiery determination and sadness behind those quiet blue eyes I loved so much.He ignored Kieran entirely.“Jackson, look at me.”I didn’t respond, I only kept my gaze locked on the ground.“Jackson, I’m not going to say it again.”And then I did, and his features softened—even when I was mad and torn he was still able to drive me insane with everything he did.God what do I do?I love Frost so much and I’m not ready to let go. I don’t think I ever will.“I’m not going anywhere without you,” he said fiercely and my eyes widened. “I don’t care what I was before. I know who I am now, and I’m not losing that. I’m not losing you.”“Caelan, be reasonable—” Kieran started, but Frost cut him off with a growl that definitely didn’t sound human.“I’ve spent

FROST POVMy breath caught as she lurked closer, my table cloth practically fell from my hands.“Maya, I—” I tried to speak, but she cut me off almost immediately.“No! Don’t you dare ‘Maya’ me right now!” Her eyes were blazing with fury and I gulped down the bulge that had formed in my throat. This was the angriest I'd ever seen her.“You’re actually going to let Jackson throw his entire life away? His family, his education, his future—everything—for some dangerous transformation that might kill him? What kind of person does that?”“Maya, if you would just let me explain—”“Explain what exactly?” She stepped closer, tears forming in the corners of her eyes, yet her voice remained sharp. “That you’re okay with Jackson dying? That you think this is a good idea? Because from where I’m standing, this is the most insane, reckless, most selfish thing I’ve ever heard!”Each word hit harder than the last. I felt my chest tighten so badly, it was getting harder to breathe. Guilt crawled up my

FROST POVBy the time I got home, it was late. The apartment was quiet except for the soft murmur of the TV in the living room. Jackson was curled up on the couch, waiting for me like he always did.He looked up when I walked in, his face breaking into a smile that made my heart ache.“Hey! How was work? I was starting to worry—you’re usually home earlier than this.”“It was fine.” I couldn’t meet his eyes. “Just had to deal with some…things.”He stood up and crossed to me, wrapping his arms around me in a hug that I knew I didn’t deserve.“Are you okay? You seem off.”I forced myself to lift my hands and hug him back, to breathe in the scent of him—mint and something warm and uniquely Jackson.“I’m fine…I’m just tired is all.”“Well, I have good news that might wake you up.” He pulled back, his eyes bright with excitement. “I’ve been doing research on transformations, on human-lycan bonds. There are actually more cases than Kieran mentioned. Some of them even—”“Jackson, stop.” My voi
