⸻ EVANDER’S APARTMENT – MORNING The pain returned before sunrise. Evander barely slept. Sweat soaked his shirt as another sharp stab tore through his abdomen. “Ouch…” he groaned, curling slightly on the ground. This wasn’t normal. He forced himself up, grabbed his keys, and staggered out. ⸻ CITY HOSPITAL The bright white lights made his headache worse. After hours of waiting, tests, and scans, a doctor finally walked in holding a file. “Mr. Evander,” the doctor began carefully, “we ran blood work and imaging.” Evander shifted uncomfortably on the hospital bed. “Just tell me what’s wrong.” The doctor hesitated. “There’s a mass.” Evander’s brows furrowed. “A mass?” “In your lower abdomen.” Silence.
