Danielle POVFor a long time, there’s nothing. Not even the awareness of nothing. Just weightless silence, as if I’ve been drifting through the deepest parts of sleep without even knowing what sleep is. The darkness is thick and endless, not the kind you notice until it starts to change. But slowly, without warning, something does begin to shift. At first, it’s only sound. Faint and muffled. Whispers, maybe. The low hum of something steady. A rhythm. It pulses softly, like the world has a heartbeat, and I’m only just remembering how to hear it. Then there are voices. Some clear, others distant. A few sharp with tension, while others are warm and low, speaking to me like I should know them. I try to hold on to those voices. I want to reach out and ask who they are, what they’re saying, but my body won’t move. My lips won’t form the words.
