CHAPTER FORTY-ONEGERALD'S POVWe follow Selena's coordinates and find the warehouse just as the sky bruises with the first hint of dawn. The cold air bites at my skin, sharp as the steel in my veins. The place looks abandoned, but I can feel eyes hiding in the shadows.Max kills the engines, and we pack the truck a few feet away from the target. Far enough to not be seen or heard, but close enough to nab any unsuspecting prey.I could see the rotting walls and broken windows clearly from where we were hiding. Selena's coordinates were dead on. This place looks like it hadn't been used in years. A place I would have never suspected to check, but I know better now.A few of my men crouch in the shadows around the lot. They've been here longer than us, keeping track of every movement, every sound. One of them, Jared, jogs up to my window and leans in. His breath fogs in the cold."Alpha Gerald," he whispers. "No movements inside, only two outside. They don't look like much. One's gone t

CHAPTER 43LILIANA POVAs soon as we stepped out of our holding cell, we all let out a sigh of relief. It was dark, and there were no other guards around apart from the ones we had killed.Good.The fewer people we had to go through, the better our chances of escaping alive, which was our ultimate goal.I signaled for the girls to follow me.We tiptoed through the long-winded hallway, trying our best not to make any noise.Above ground, we could already hear.We could hear movement and commotion. Something was going on, just as I had suspected earlier.Good, we were going to need the advantage to escape."What do you think is going on up there?" Stella whispered as we made our way through the dimly lit hallway."No idea, but we have to be careful not to get caught," I answered. Whatever it was, I had a feeling that it could be our only chance to escape. We continued through the hallway, each one of us holding our makeshift weapon in case we were intercepted.I held on to my bloodied s

CHAPTER 45LilianaThe gunshot vibrated through the air before I could let Gerald know it was me. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the impact, but nothing came.My eyes opened then, and I realized. He'd not shot me; he had shot someone else behind me.I glanced back, and I saw one of the men who had captured me from the woods on the ground, crying in pure agony.Another shot rang from Gerald, completely silencing the bastard. I still couldn't believe he was here. How did he even find me?I locked eyes with Gerald, and something almost magnetic passed between us. Sharp.Did he know it was me in this form? That couldn't be.Had he heard my cry for help? I was never one to believe in silly things like that, but I was inclined to."Alpha, I found some of the prisoners," a familiar voice yelled from behind me. Landen."Find Liliana and bring her to me," he said without looking away from me. It was almost like he was trying to see through me or looking for something in my eyes. I wasn

CHAPTER 47LilianaThe sound of knocking jolted me up from a blissful sleep.I blinked rapidly, trying to reorient myself back into the real world. Where am I? I looked around. For a second, I was confused. There were no concrete walls, and I was not chained along with a bunch of other girls to the wall. Just a beautifully painted room and queen-size bed, then I realized I was back in the packhouse and Gerald had rescued me last night from the hands of that bastard.Sadness pressed against my ribs until it hurt to breathe. Faces I couldn't save flickered in my mind...Stella, Lauren, and each name felt like another stone on my chest. It's all my fault. Before I could wallow in self-pity, the knock came back louder.I groaned."Come in," I yelled, sitting up, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand. I wasn't sure how long I had been asleep or what the time was.All I knew was that as soon as we'd arrived at the pack house, I had showered and brushed my teeth and had fallen asleep soon

CHAPTER 49LILIANA“You want me to teach you how to fight?” Max asked, his brows knitted together in confusion.“Yes, and before you say no, I am a good student, and I learn pretty fast. Also, in exchange, I will make you your favorite meal or bake you something.’Max chuckled. “I would love to train you, but I am not sure how Gerald would feel about that.”“What do you mean? He said it was okay. I asked him first before coming to you.” I said with a shrug. It wasn't a lie. I did ask Gerald before coming to him; I just didn't mention Max. Besides, why would he care if Max trained me? Was there something I should know that I didn't? I opened my mouth to ask, but Max was already speaking again.“Well then, I would be honored to teach you how to fight.”“Really?Thank you so much.” I squealed.“Trust me, the pleasure is all mine. Training a student and teaching a pretty girl? What man can I ask for?”I chuckled at his cheeky statement. He was so cute for a man his size.“So, how do we sta
