"Jason, why are you doing this to me?"Inside the private room of a bar, men's laughter filled the air. I lay sprawled on the icy floor, reaching out to clutch the hem of Jason Chase's pants.I fought hard to get up, but I was pinned to the ground by a few men.He bent down in front of me, looking at me with contempt. He sneered and said, "Christine Light, do you know that every single day I spent with you made me feel sick?"My chest tightened at what Jason said. I did not understand it. We had been in a relationship for three years.Jason had always been a gentleman. Why had he suddenly changed into this icy, ruthless stranger before me?What I was even more confused about was that this man, who had always told me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, would suddenly hate me.Tears started welling up in my eyes. With a catch in my throat, I asked, "Why are you doing this?"He kicked my hand away ruthlessly and asked icily, "Do you still

After that incident that night at the bar, Jason completely vanished from my life. The malice that surrounded me flared up once more, getting worse by the day. The neighbors who used to bully us continued dumping trash and spitting in front of our door.Someone even splashed our door with paint while hurling slurs at me.One night, on my way back home, a group of people dragged me into a dark alley and started beating me up.Their punches and kicks rained down on me. After having their way, they spat on my face and yelled, "Like brother, like sister. Neither of you is good."Under the dim streetlight, I crouched on the ground, clutching my head and sobbing uncontrollably. One of them suddenly reached out and jerked at my clothes.I was terrified. While struggling, I accidentally slammed into a protruding stone in the wall. Blood streamed down my face.At my most panicked and helpless moment, I never expected Jason to appear. He walked over and towered over me condescendingly.

I could not change the past. However, at that moment, I finally had a chance to choose.Jason was yelling at me through the phone. I had never seen him so angry before. Even if it was that night at the bar, he only sounded icy, like he could not be bothered.Even so, I no longer wanted anything to do with him.I placed my phone down and looked at the bridge calmly. Then, with a smile, I jumped. All those grudges, all those nasty comments. They no longer had anything to do with me.Perhaps it was for the best.My body grew heavier and heavier. My head throbbed as if it were about to split open. This must be what dying felt like. The beautiful memories I had with Jason flashed across my mind like the stars in the night sky.I could not help but reach out to grab it, only to find myself sinking into a memory.Back then, Jason and I were still very much in love. It was a full moon in August, when the moon hung low and shone brightly in the sky.Jason accompanied me moonwatching

Jason was unhappy. He retorted, saying, "I never thought of using Christine to get Lisa back. I only wanted Christine to suffer a little, to make her brother regret it. After all, it was Charlie who had caused Lisa to suffer."I heard a loud slap.Jenny yelled even louder, "You don't know anything! Don't pretend that you do! Why don't you ask your lover what really happened back then?"What truly happened?I looked out the window at the dark skies and sank into my memories. That day, Charlie returned home from work a little later than usual. He explained that he had met a drunk girl by the side of the road. He was worried for her, so he took her to the hospital. He did not expect that trouble would come after him like that. That girl was Lisa. Not long after, Lisa accused Charlie of assaulting her and making her pregnant. I did not know where they found the evidence, but Charlie ended up in prison.I looked at Charlie in confusion, but he shook his head at me, saying that he

Jenny told me that Jason would visit me daily. When he saw me sleeping, he would sit by my side and look at me for a very long time.Actually, I knew he was there. I was not always asleep. However, I did not want to see him anymore. While waiting to be discharged from the hospital, I never thought that I would see her again.Lisa found my room. When she came by, Jason was not around. When Jenny saw her, she threw the pillow at her and yelled, "You shameless witch! How dare you come see us! As if you haven't caused enough pain!"Lisa was not angry at all. She merely smirked. She walked over and sized me up, saying icily, "Oh, it's you. It's been a while, huh?"I was furious when I saw her. It was because of her that Charlie was in prison. I immediately asked her to leave."You framed my brother and put him in prison. Leave. I don't want to see you."Her face suddenly twisted. She looked vicious and arrogant as she sneered at me, saying, "Yes, I framed your brother, so what? Yo
