Chapter 1

The banquet hall erupted as a bespoke ten-layer cake smashed onto the floor, cream and fillings bursting outward and splattering every unfortunate soul within reach. Then the hall fell deathly silent.Damien was the first to recover. He stormed toward me and lifted his hand. "What the hell?! Have you lost your mind?! You could have scared Bella to death. You know she can't handle shocks like this!"In my last life, I would have collapsed to my knees, sobbing and begging him not to hit me. I would have sworn I never meant any harm. But now, a sweet, almost angelic computerized voice chimed inside my head. [3-Star Madness. Reward: 15,000,000 dollars.]My phone vibrated. I glanced at the screen. Oh, sweet Lord.I caught Damien's wrist, yanked it aside with all my strength, and followed through with a sharp slap across his face, the hardest I had ever delivered. The crowd gasped.Damien stared at me in disbelief. "Did you just… hit me?""Already lost a few brain cells from the imp

Chapter 2

Just as I expected, Gabriel held her hand and glared at me."When are you going to stop these hysterics, Marceline? Why are you acting like a madwoman over something as trivial as a dress?" he growled. "Look at her. Don't tell me you still haven't realized it. The dress looks better on her than it ever could on you."Damien finally regained his composure and sneered, "He's right. Unlike you, Bella actually knows how to behave like an heiress from an elite family."I laughed. Then I laughed harder, until tears streamed down my cheeks. So this was my family. This was my husband. I had died like a dog in my last life for this den of douchebags.I grabbed a bottle of red wine. "You love this dress so much, bitch? Then take it."I slammed the neck of the bottle against the edge of the table and shattered it. Wine cascaded over Bella, soaking the dress and ruining her makeup. She shrieked, "My eyes! It hurts!"Magnus and Gabriel rushed to her side to clean her up.Meanwhile, Damien

Paradiso Castle was the most expensive property in the entire city. Having enough money did not guarantee the right to buy it, which only proved how absurdly generous the MRS truly was.I stood behind a 600–square-yard, floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the city's nightscape while red wine sloshed gently in my glass. I had never felt more at peace. In my last life, I must have been genuinely brain-dead to believe they would love me simply because I obeyed every command. Oh, I was so "loved."I turned my phone over and braced myself for the flood of messages and missed calls."Where the hell are you?!" My dear mother, Lucy, shrieked in a voice message, her voice sharp enough to pierce stone. "Get your ass back here and apologize to Bella, now! Do you have any idea how much shame you brought on us today?! Poor Bella hasn't stopped crying!"Damien's text followed soon after.Damien: [Running out of money already now that Dad terminated your cards? Once you finally get tired of star

I leaned against the door and yawned. "Man, your language. You kiss Bella's boo-boo with that mouth?""Marceline!" Magnus snarled. He drew a deep breath and forced himself to calm down. "Come home with me. Bella has been running a high fever since last night. She keeps calling for you and says she feels guilty."Mom and Dad are worried sick. Go back, apologize, and we'll treat all of this as water under the bridge."I narrowed my eyes and let a slow grin spread across my face. "A fever? Oh, the Lord really does punish injustice. Has it started eating away at the pitiful number of brain cells she has left? You know, you could always institutionalize her in that mental asylum you were scouting for me."In my last life, my dear family had forcibly institutionalized me for being "hysterical and aggressive." It had been pure torment.Magnus's face darkened. "What the hell are you talking about? Since when did you turn into such a douchebag, Marceline? Bella is one of the kindest, pure

I had become the richest woman in the city now that I was one of Lumos' largest shareholders.Even so, I felt no rush to take over the corporation. Instead, I headed straight to the most high-end shopping mall in the city.In my past life, I had often watched Bella buy every piece of clothing I wanted, all charged to Damian's card.Today? It was time to fill my own wardrobe.I had barely stepped into an atelier when a familiar voice rang out. "Bella, darling, don't cry! Look, this dress fits you perfectly. How about we get you this one?"Lucy, my ex-mother, stood there with Bella, who wore oversized sunglasses and tried to hide her face.Just my luck. The salesgirl hovered nearby, pouring on the flattery. "That's a marvelous choice, Mrs. Blanc. This is one of our limited-edition dresses. Only three exist on the entire continent."I settled onto their couch and crossed my legs, as if I owned the place. Or soon would. "Excuse me. I'd like the dress you're holding."The salesgirl

I cast the scissors aside and clapped my hands. "Aww, does it stress you out, Lucy? Fortunately, you'll never have enough money to even worry about this happening to you. Ever."I stood in front of Bella and watched her grip the dress defensively."Hmm, you like this a lot, don't you? You can have it, then." I leaned into her ear and added, "You can have Gabriel, that piece of shit. Honestly, I'm surprised you treat him like a piece of treasure."Bella's face turned pale. Her eyes started to well up."How dare you!" Lucy cried out, raising her hand.I caught her wrist and glared at her. "We are in a public space, Lucy. There are cameras and people everywhere. Hit me today, and the headline this will make will hit the Blancs' stocks. Wanna bet?"Lucy's hand paused in mid-action. She had no idea how to recover from this, until finally, she swung her hand away from me and scowled. "We are leaving, Bella!"I watched them flee as quickly as possible and laughed. "Oh, they could not t

Chapter 7

"You shut up, fuckboy," I spat. The hall fell into a deadly silence.I scanned the room with a queen's composure and took the microphone. "Effective immediately, Lumos Enterprise is terminating all contracts and partnerships with the Blanc Group and Black Inc. Any company or corporation that insists on continuing business with them will be treated as an enemy of Lumos and blacklisted from all future partnerships."Shock and rage tore through Jacob's body. He nearly collapsed on the spot. After all, 80% of the Blanc Group's contracts were tied to Lumos."You've lost your mind, you madwoman!" he howled. "How could you treat your own father this way?"I had no interest in addressing him directly. "Security?"Several hulking men appeared at once.I flicked my hand. "Escort these people out. Make it clear that every one of them, including that bitch over there, is permanently barred from all Lumos properties."Damien saw the guards closing in and panicked. He lost all restraint and

"Send this to the Blanc residence, will you? Deliver it personally to Lucy Blanc."I curled my lips. We were finally reaching the climax of this drama.…That night, the Blanc family suffered the most seismic upheaval they had never imagined.Word spread that Lucy had chased Jacob through the house with a meat cleaver in one hand and a paternity test report in the other.Bella collapsed to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. She screamed that Jacob had forced her to pretend she was nothing more than an adopted child. Her two idiotic brothers could only stand there and gawk as their precious world collapsed around them. The little sister they had adored turned out to be their father's illegitimate child. Their father had cheated on their mother all along.I was not there to witness the chaos in person, but the MRS replayed every detail for me."God, I feel exhilarated!"Lucy had gone completely feral. Jacob ran for his life. Bella's fake, pitiful little sister act lay in ruins.

I ran straight into Gabriel when I turned around. He looked haggard, yet he still wore a suit, as if clinging to the last scraps of a gentlemanly facade. He stepped into my path, his face giving nothing away. "Marcy, if you were not so stubborn, we would not have come to this.""We?" I scoffed. "Bro, who put you in charge? Do I even know you?""I know you still hate me," he said, his tone absurdly tender. "I was blinded and bewitched by a vixen like Bella. In truth, I have always loved you. I am a changed man now. Let us try again, shall we? I do not mind your attitude. We can take care of Lumos together…"I burst out laughing. "Oh my god. Ohhh my god. Do you really think women are as stupid as you? You do not mind my attitude? We can take care of Lumos together?"The scheming was so transparent that Gabriel somehow circled back into being the most honest man on Earth."You just want me to take you in as a sugar mommy, boy," I said flatly. "Be honest about it instead of pretendin
