Chapter 22Alyssa My eyes opened slowly, as the harsh sun rays shone on my face. I tried moving to the other position but the body ache I felt woke me immediately.I looked up at the ceiling. It looked familiar, almost too familiar. It wasn't the same as when I woke up yesterday in the hospital. I tried understanding what was happening but the splitting headache I had almost made me lose my mind. I gathered up strength and pushed myself forward, sitting up on the bed. I was back in my room. But how? I kept on waking up in different places every single day. How did I get here? I recollected falling asleep at the hospital with Duncan sitting beside me after being surprisingly nice to me the entire evening. Was this some dream?Did yesterday even happen? The hospital? Chapter 24Duncan The wind blew violently. I righted my grip on her wrist, not daring to let go for a second as the tornado roared around us. Chapter 26Alyssa I know I’ve seen him around speaking to Duncan on several occasions but I never really understood what his relationship with him was. I doubted whether he was working here at the company or if he was just a friend of Duncan because he had never introduced him. Duncan’s expression looked calm when he saw him so I could tell that he was already expecting him. He stepped in and walked directly to Duncan’s desk. I could see the tension between the two of them for some minutes while no one said anything. Duncan soon started the conversation asking about some reports. Chapter 28Alyssa The next morning, I was completely locked in. I paid so much attention when the attendant was giving me details on how to look like a completely different person. I even took notes of some of the things she said because I was taking this very seriously. This had to be perfect. I wanted to prove Duncan wrong because I knew that with what he said, he’d expect that I’d back out but I definitely don’t plan on backing out. Chapter 30Alyssa I hung around Ryan longer than I was supposed to and made sure I laughed loud enough. I wanted to make sure I caught Duncan’s attention. I wanted to make him jealous. I saw the displeased look on his face when he found out that Ryan and I were actually familiar with one another. And I planned to use that to my advantage. Although Ryan was filling me in on some of the office drama, I was barely paying attention to him and I kept on stealing glances at him. Lyra wore a tight-fitted gown like she was attending a party or something. It was so obvious that she was trying too hard to get Duncan’s attention and it was even more embarrassing because it wasn’t working.He didn’t even want her on the trip.
