Tyler knew something was wrong the moment his mother called. The old woman never reached out during work hours if she didn’t think it was important, and she no longer had any official ties to the company, so he knew the call was all about him.He stared at the screen for a moment before answering."Mother."Sometimes, he wished he could just ignore her tantrums."Tyler. Good afternoon.” She greeted in a calm voice. It was nothing like he her expected. The old woman wasnt a loud person, but she was always authoritative. Now, she seemed plain.Immediately, he grew suspicious. Something was wrong in places he hadnt considered."What’s wrong, Ma?” He wskedA soft chuckle came through the line "I should be asking you that."Tyler leaned back in his chair. That was the woman he knew."I don't know what you're talking about." He answered."Are you sure, Tyler?""Yes, ma."His mother went mute. The silence echoed through the phone. He waited for her to continue."I believe you need to explain

Tyler ignored the designer, just like he ignored the assistants. He ignored the secretary who nearly ran after him the moment he stepped into the hallway. In fact, he was waiting for who would be brave enough to try to physically stop him, as he was in the mood for a fight. He needed someone who would distract him from the thoughts in his head.“Mr. Tyler, your mother specifically instructed-““I don’t care.”Tiana immediately fell silent. Her boss had resumed one of his attitudes and she was caught in the middle of it once more.Tyler continued walking By the time he reached the elevator, another employee hurried toward him.“Excuse me, sir. I was wondering if we could possibly-”The elevator doors opened, and Tyler stepped inside. The employee wisely remained where he was.He eyed the man in a gray suit then stood as the doors closed. For the first time in years, Tyler felt suffocated. Several hours later, across the city, Kennedy and Vincent were driving home. The evening had been pleasant. Dinner was fun, and exciting. Relaxing even. It was what she had needed in the last few days. The children had stayed with the nanny. It was nice to have a life without constantly bothering about her children. The dinner had gone well. The food was great and the staff was pleasant. For once, neither of them had discussed business. They simply talked about easier things. Her life, her dreams, and her need for a vacation. They spoke about random childhood memories, and how China hqd chanted overtime. The city lights blurred past the windows.Kennedy rested comfortably in her seat. For the first time all week, she felt calm. Then her phone buzzed, and a notification appeared. She almost ignored it. Then another arrived. And another. Her brows furrowed. She hated notifications and at that moment she began questioning her decision of keeping her phone on. Maybe she should have left it

It was almost seven pm when Vincent decided he would spend the night with the children. His original plans had involved taking time off to look at the papers his team had prepared, but Lennedy had called saying the children had asked for him.He sighed as he scratched that off his plans. He loves the children, and he knew saying no to him wasn't an option. Moreover, wasn't this what he said he wanted? He wants to be a member of the family. Now, he could see the children had accepted him into their lives. He got into his car, and headed for the route that led to Kennedy’s house. She had agreed to have lunch and dinner with him two days ago. This was a sign that he had made rhe right decision by taking a step forward. He was tired of standing in the shadows. He was tired of just being the available friend. He wanted to be so much more, and he knew there was potential for him to be so.He loved the children as his own, and Lennedy has grown comfortable with him enough to mention her probl

The awkwardness lingered as they returned to the registration area. The teacher immediately apologized for the confusion.Several forms had to be corrected.Names had to be updated, and emergency contacts confirmed.Partnership groups were reassigned. It became a surprisingly complicated process.By the end of it, the teacher finally smiled."Everything is fixed." The teacher announced as she placed a stamp on the paper.Kennedy sighed with relief. The woman glanced between her and Vincent, then made a final note."Partner registered."Vincent looked up.The teacher smiled."You and Ms. Kennedy are paired together for today's activities."For a second Vincent thought he had misheard.Partner.The word echoed pleasantly inside his head.He tried very hard not to look too pleased.Unfortunately, he failed.Kennedy simply nodded."That's alright. Thank you."As though nothing about it was significant.Vincent secretly found her lack of reaction adorable. The teacher handed them their acti
