Hannah's POV. I sat in the courtroom on a hard wooden bench, my hands resting on my lap. The air felt thick, like it was holding its breath along with everyone else. Alexander was beside me, his hand covering mine under the railing where no one could see. He gave my fingers a gentle squeeze, steady and warm, the way he always did when he knew I needed grounding.Daniel stood at the front, wearing an orange jumpsuit that looked too big on him now. His shoulders were slumped. The confident man who used to tower over me in our kitchen was gone. In his place was someone hollow, eyes sunken, face pale under the courtroom lights.
