Lahat ng Kabanata ng Captive To The Mafia Lord: Kabanata 151 - Kabanata 160

Jovani's POVThe doctor said the time of death was 6:47 PM.I know this because Donatella told me later, after she came back into the ward through the back after the whole scene she'd created at the waiting room.I never died, I survived the gunshot wounds and chose anonymity.I always had my suspicions about Elena from the day she'd become rude and wouldn't do my bidding. The money that moved from my account, the account officer being dodgy, Elena having meetings behind my back.Everything pointed at one thing; she was trying to double cross me.“You're not as big as you think and I can easily replace you.” That was what Elena had told me that night. And the fact that Sergei, a man whom I found out was somehow linked to Elena just showed up out of the blue, I knew it could only mean one thing so I made moves, placing one step ahead. The drug was in the lining of my jacket. A contact agent, absorbed through the skin over the course of the evening, slowing everything down to a rate ind

Camille's POVAs soon the car drove off, I exhaled deeply, relieving myself of the tension. I'd heard of Jovan's boyfriend but seeing him upfront with that death glare of his made me scared but I'd held it down.My phone rang. I pulled it out of my purse. It was Sergei.“How did it go?” He asked as soon as I answered.“A little bit scary. For a second there, I thought he was going to kill me.”Sergei laughed. “You're one lucky girl, I must say. Lorenzo doesn't take threats to his boyfriend lightly so I'd advise you tread cautiously.”“Come over, I had something for you.”An hour later, the Uber driver dropped me off at his house. Wow….. his house was beautiful. Exactly like I expected. He opened the door himself. No staff visible, which told me something about how he wanted this conversation to go."How did you find them?" He stepped aside for me to enter."I found both of them." I walked past him into the apartment and didn't wait to be invited further in. "Sitting in a car eating pi

Sergei's POVThe first call came while I was dealing with a shipment problem. Three containers had arrived at the docks with the wrong paperwork attached, which meant customs had decided to become interested in my business.I was already irritated then my phone started vibrating, adding to my annoyance. I looked at the screen. It was Pavel.I ignored it and continued skimming through the documents but it rang again and again.Jesus Christ!I answered on the fourth attempt. "What?""She's not listening."I closed my eyes, pinching the space in-between my eyes. For the last two days, Maria had somehow become the center of my problems, and I was getting tired of hearing her name."What happened now?""She heard us." He answered."Yes, Pavel.” I rolled my eyes. “You mentioned that yesterday.""No, you don't understand." He replied. “Maria everything we said over the phone and that's a problem.” His voice sounded strained.I hated that tone."What exactly did she hear?""I don't know."I r

Jovan's POVThe drive home passed in pieces I couldn't fully hold onto, streetlights smearing past the window, my own reflection ghosted over the glass looking like someone I didn't quite recognize.“Mr Jovan, you look stunning today with that tie.” Maria's voice filled my head. She wasn't just an employee or someone who kept tabs on everything I was supposed to do. She was a friend who I could sit and talk to about the bank's affair. She was one of the first employees I got who stuck by me when the bank hit rock bottom.Maria's laugh kept surfacing, the way she used to hum off-key while sorting my mail, the ridiculous, elaborate coffee order she'd memorized within a week of starting the job and never once got wrong in four years.Four years! Four years of working with her and all was gone all because of that bastard!Lorenzo was waiting when I walked in, and I didn't even make it past the entryway before he'd crossed the distance and pulled me into him, one hand cradling the back of

Lorenzo's POVWe finally got Lena back into the house and she sat on the couch, Jovan's arm still wrapped around her while she quietly sobbed.I stepped outside to the porch to make a phone call. Marcus answered on the second ring."Is Lena okay?" he asked. "I've been trying to reach her for a while now but she's not answering. I'm just—""Calm down, Marcus." I cut him off. "She's fine. I'm at her house with Jovan. He's holding her inside.""Thank god." A breath left him, ragged. "I've been losing my mind out here.""What's going on with the lawyer situation? You said something earlier, before all this.""That's the part I don't understand." His voice tightened. "I called Bertram first thing, figured we'd have him retained before the sun even came up. He turned it down.” He informed me.I raised a brow, confused. Why would Bertram refuse a job from me?“What do you mean he refused to take up this case when you reached out to him?”“I'm as surprised as you are.” He answered. “He didn't
