Another gunshot sounded; I'm not sure that was directed at me; it certainly wasn’t directed at Ethan because Ethan was above me the next second. “Call the hospital, now!” His yelling passed through my blurred hearing; everything was slowly dying down, aside from his heavy breathing and his pleading for me not to shut my eyes.
