Lahat ng Kabanata ng Paging Doctor Heartbreaker: Kabanata 41 - Kabanata 50

She passed the time imagining said scenarios in her head. Parker barely noticed that she was not paying attention to what he was saying. He eventually asked Sammy something and she was reluctantly pulled into his one-sided conversation.Parker took a bite of desert then got a spoonful to try and feed her. She had never been so horrified by a sugary treat flying at her face.“I’m full,” she told him, trying to dodge his attempts.“Just one bite, Irene. I just want you to taste how delicious it is.”“I’m not hungry—”“Just one bite!”She looked at Sammy for help, but she simply allowed this slow torture. Irene wanted to jump across the table and strangle the woman. Every time a spoonful of cake nearly gouged her eyes out, she got more and more irritated. She was close to prying the spoon away and beating the brother and sister with it.Henry finally took pity on her. Or he was receiving second-hand annoyance, as palpable as her irritation was. “Dude, she said she doesn’t want the cake.”

Brenden nodded, squeezing her tighter. “Okay,” he said. And then he changed the topic. “Do you want to watch a movie? I kind of passed out on you the last time you suggested it.”She smiled at the memory and moved away from him to get a better angle at the TV screen. “I don’t have a ton of subscriptions. What do you want to watch?”He leaned forward to look at the recommendations. “They are all chick flicks and true crime,” he observed, amused. He riffled through them, scrolling down slowly.“These are the ones I can handle after a work day, okay? Don’t expect me to watch high literature,” she said defensively. “Steve was a big movie buff, but me? Not so much.”“I see…” he said thoughtfully and she went to the search bar instead.“We are not watching these,” she said with finalty.“No, no. Give me a minute. I can’t decide if I want to hear how some man was chopped up by his date or watch two pretty Asian people fall in love.”“You actually have to think about it?” she asked in mock su

Irene was making rounds on her patients when she discovered that an elderly patient had gotten out of bed without assistance. She couldn’t hold it in and couldn’t find her call light. It was in the bed with her, but she had poor vision and ultimately decided to take matters into her own hands. Now, the lady was barely standing, her IV line taut across the room, her adult briefs down to her ankles as she wades in a puddle of her own urine. Irene got her back into bed, cleaned her up, slapped on a new diaper, and handed her the call button. The elderly woman thanked her and apologized. Irene could only comfort the woman, telling her it was alright, because she could imagine how embarrassed the other must be.Irene headed down the hallway in search of towels and cleaning supplies. She could call housekeeping, but sometimes it was just easier to do things herself. She didn’t hear the noises until it was too late. She stopped at the janitor’s closet and snatched the door open without think

She shifted uncomfortably where she stood as she wondered, once again, how big his package was.‘Gosh, I’m so inappropriate. This is not the time of place to be imagining a coworker’s package.’Eventually, he stopped talking to the other doctor and began flipping through the chart. Deciding to have a little fun, she walked up to the station until she was standing directly in front of him, with just the counter between them. He didn’t see her for at least thirty seconds, and she just stood there, waiting patiently and possibly looking like a creeper as she stared him down. When she saw another nurse cock her eyebrow at her, she decided to clear her throat and speed things up. “Ahem.”Brenden looked up and did a double take. Then his face broke into one of the most breathtaking smiles she had ever seen. Her insides turned to goo on command.‘I’m useless.’“Hey,” he said. “What are you doing here?”“Working,” she replied. “I’ve been exiled for the day.”“Banished to the third floor?”“So

The CT tech called Irene shortly afterwards and asked if the patient would be getting a dialysis soon because her test results weren’t optimal. She reluctantly relayed the message to Dr. Silvia.“Did you not just round with me?” he asked, annoyed.Brenden had taken his seat back at the other side of the nurses station and she wished she would melt away and die. She hated being demeaned, especially in front of him.“I don’t remember you saying anything about her creating levels, sir.”“I said I was aware and we’re going to do it anyway.”“Well, you’re welcome to explain to the radiologist because he is refusing to do it. Do you want me to get him on the phone for you?” She tried to keep the edge out of her voice, but judging from the lethal look Dr. Silvia gave her, she was not sure she was successful.“Why the hell would I explain myself? I ordered the test and the patient is having a dialysis tomorrow.”She stood there for a moment, wondering if she had missed something. She could fe
