Semua Bab Fair Balance System: Every Lie Turns Into Debt: Bab 1 - Bab 8

A sizzling hot shared barbecue platter was set before us. Adam happily gnawed on a rib while everyone else ignored the fact that I couldn't chew meat anymore because of my lack of teeth.I could only drink bowl after bowl of soup until I was finally just full of liquid. When it came time to pay, Raymond received a phone call. "Mom, sorry, but something came up at work. Vivian doesn't have any money on her, so can you pay first? I'll pay you back later."He then left in a hurry. I didn't even look his way when I paid the bill, as I had already expected this. "Calculating… Money for food has been credited."It would seem like my son was really going to end up with a huge IOU.After seeing Vivian and Adam off, I went next door to visit Susan Glenn since I had nothing else to do. "Oh my, Beatrice, why are you still dressed so plain? If you're going to enjoy being taken care of, you should at least dress up a bit!"I smiled, giving a dismissive wave. "Enjoy being taken care of? I just

As I listened to the shouting over the phone, I sniffled, feeling like I had never felt so clear-headed in my life."Raymond, didn't you say you'd take care of me? I'm just fulfilling your wish."On the other end, Raymond took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. "Mom, have you been misled by someone? Is that why you're scheming against your own son?"I don't owe you anything. Now transfer the money back to me immediately."I let out a cold laugh. "Every single cent that was transferred is what you owe me. I hadn't wanted to ask for it before, but now it's time you pay up."I hung up before letting out a deep breath. The anger that had been building for a long time in me finally subsided a little. As I opened the curtains, warm sunlight spilled over me. For the first time in a long while, I felt alive again.Since Raymond was overseas, coming back would take at least a 12-hour flight. Moreover, today's tickets were already sold out. That thought alone made me feel stran

I let out a long sigh. "You're the one who's claiming all of that. How could that be considered me pushing you to your grave?"Raymond's fingers trembled as he pointed at me. After what felt like forever, he shouted, "Alright. I see how it is!"With a loud bang, he slammed the door open and stormed off.The room fell into silence, broken only by my faint sobs echoing in the space. He never came to visit me in the hospital again after that. I spent a week in the hospital before finally being discharged. The first thing I noticed upon returning to my familiar home was the wide-open door. Inside, everything had been turned upside down. At a glance, it looked like a hurricane had swept through. Was it a burglar? My legs were shaking as I painstakingly checked everything, only to realize that my retirement passbook was missing.I slumped helplessly onto the floor. As I looked at the mess around me, an unexpected thought surfaced. At least only my passbook was gone. There wasn't much

Noise filled my ears as the people all around tried to comfort the grown man who was crying like a child.I took in my final breath when a sudden crackling sound filled my ears. A second later, a familiar voice echoed in my mind."Ding! An empty promise has been detected. Fair Balance System activated. Calculating… The transfer of years of life is complete. Since the debtor has not repaid the debt in full, forced repayment measures have been initiated."At some point, the excruciating pain disappeared, leaving behind a bone-gnawing itch all over my body. After enduring it with great difficulty, I opened my eyes.I snapped upright. In disbelief, I touched my body. There was no pain anywhere. And I was so full of strength that I could practically climb the mountain all over again. There was instant panic around me. Screams broke out all around as people exclaimed, "It's a miracle!""Is this some kind of magic trick?"I turned my head. Raymond, who had been pinching his own thigh h
