GEMMAI growled at her, feeling anger coursing through my veins. I didn't want her pity, I didn't need it."Don't touch me," I growled out.She took a tentative step backward. I gripped the side of the tub and tried to stand to my feet but my fingers dug into it. No, not my fingers, my claws.I looked at my hands in disbelief. My wolf claws were extending out of my hands. I was shifting."You have to calm down, Gemma." Chloe began to say. George took a step forward, pushing Chloe behind him. To protect her, from me."You're overstimulating yourself. It's triggering you to change to your wolf. It's making you lose control." George said to me, holding out his hand."Get out!" I screamed."We're leaving," George told me. They backed out of the bathroom, closing the door."We need to get Nate." I heard him suggest. It only made me angrier. Nate was my mate but I hated the mere sight of him. I hated that George thought I needed him in this situation.I grabbed the door handle and pulled it

GEMMAI looked at Chloe for all of two seconds before I walked past her hurriedly. I was hearing rubbish no doubt. Whatever was wrong with me, I needed to fix it.This guilt was crushing me badly.Chloe called me back once and chose to let me be. I walked around for a while before I decided to leave the palace. I needed fresh air. Maybe it was time for a run.Luckily I was putting on comfortable shoes and clothing so, I just stretched for a while and began to run. I think I ran for thirty minutes until I saw George. He was standing outside and I thought that maybe he had seen me taking off in a run or Chloe had told him that I left without saying a word but either way, he was here."Hey, I see you still want to go for runs." He told me.He reminded me of the training. I think it's almost been two weeks. There's been no improvement. I had to find a way to train myself because I wasn't going to let Nate train me.I nodded, kicking a pebble on the floor as I caught my breath."Chloe is l

GEMMA"How did you get in here?" I asked, taking a cautious step backward and looking around for help. This has always been my response to trouble.Ever since the first time I encountered Grim, I didn't want to underestimate anyone. But I was in my room and I was all alone."I can get into anywhere I want. It's what I do." She said to me. She was staring daggers at me. I remembered how stubborn she had been in the house until Grim had told them to leave without him.I wonder now if they were filled with regrets for leaving him alone with me. I know that I regret it. What she said when I walked into the room played back in my head."Grim was your brother?" I asked, surprised."He was," she snapped at me, "and you took him away from me." She flicked her hand and claws extended from her fingers. It wasn't uncommon to see people change some of their features to their wolves without actually completely shifting. But the speed with which she had done it surprised me.What surprised me more

GEMMAIsla laughed, pushing her snow-white hair behind her ear. It contrasted heavily with her light blue eyes and I wondered briefly if the White Wolf had considered being reincarnated in her and then changed their mind."You should see the look on your face," she chuckled. "You look so pale. Not so strong now, are you?""Tell me the truth, Isla. Does anyone else know?" I asked, staring at her with a serious expression.Isla frowned. "Don't call my name like that. You're not my mother." She said."Just tell me." I insisted. She sighed. "Of course, I didn't. I wanted to kill you myself. If I let people know about you, they'll either want to kill you or capture you for themselves. It would only make it harder for me."I exhaled quietly. "Okay, thank you," I said despite myself. She chuckled at me. "Why do you laugh so much?""Why do you care so much?" She asked me back."It's just like your brother. He smiled in the most absurd of situations. Do you people think that everything is funn

ELIASI still haven't told anyone about my visit to the witch/gypsy woman. The witch doesn't even know that I saw the White Wolf in the fog. I never told her who I was looking for but, she managed to summon the image of the one I was desperately looking for.Gemma D'Laurence. My rejected mate. The rumors about the White Wolf were true. She's the only one that could give me enough power to take down Gemstone's pack.I wasn't sure how much she would want to help me after I had treated her badly. And I sure as hell wasn't going to ask the Alpha King who was her second chance mate for help.I had to find a way to get Gemma back. Even if it meant lying to her and deceiving her. I had to get her to trust me.There was a knock on the door. I quickly composed myself before telling them to come in. It was Ashley. After I had rejected her idea of going to ask the Alpha King for help, her mood had been pissy. I wasn't in the mood to deal with any of her tantrums today."What is it?" I asked, men

GEMMAIt had taken me a while but I realized that whenever I wanted things to go as planned, they never seemed to. I thought that I would be able to convince Viktor to leave fast.I thought he would listen to me and leave. I was only trying to protect him. He was just a tad bit desperate to see Isla in person. I didn't blame him.I saw the fear flash in Viktor's eyes as he looked back behind me. There's only one person who could have gotten that reaction from him quickly. It was the Alpha King."Who are you?" Nate replied, this time a little more harsher."I'll distract him and you run, got it?" I whispered quickly to Viktor before I turned to face Nate.He looked displeased. He looked at me and then behind me at Viktor. There was something about the way he stared at him. It gave me the feeling that he knew who Viktor might be."Nate, you have to calm down," I said, taking a few slow steps towards him. He wanted to brush past me towards Viktor. But, I stepped in front of him and said,

GEMMAThe next morning, after breakfast, I went to the dungeon. The guards had given Isla a tray of unappetizing-looking food. She didn't touch it.She sat on the filthy floor, resting her back against the stone-cold wall. I sighed and sat on the floor outside the cell. She glanced at me."Why are you here again?" She asked. "Didn't I answer all your questions?""I brought you food," I said, holding onto the small cloth I had wrapped a few things in. There was bacon, a bit of bread, and some cookies. It wasn't much but it was better than the rice porridge that was lying cold in a bowl on the tray."No, thanks." She said, looking away.Still, I unwrapped it and stuck my hand carefully between the bars of the cells to put the food on the floor. She glanced at it warily."Are you here to poison me?" Isla asked. I grabbed a cookie and took a bite. "Swallow." She said.I swallowed and opened my mouth for her. She came closer and took the cloth in her hand, chewing on the bacon. I let her e

GEMMA"I… I left with Viktor." She replied."No," I said. "You looked at Grim and then you looked at me. The past few days, I tried to understand that look. It was hope. You were putting your hope on me, albeit desperately. You begged me."This was a bit of a stretch but her eyes had been pleading. It's one of the reasons I chose to be the one down here asking questions. Because she would answer to me."You must think I'm a terrible person. Well, worse than you thought." She said sadly.I sat on the floor again in front of her cell and shook my head. "I understand what it means to have a hard life. To lose everything. I know how hard you wish to bring everything back to normal." I said, thinking about my own life."That doesn't make you terrible. You set Grim free. You'll leave with that guilt for the rest of your life and so will I. I think you just have to find how to live better from now on." I tried to pacify her.But it was not my place. It was her choice to find out how to move

ELIASWhat my mother was suggesting was outrageous."Kill the Alpha King?" I asked incredulously, "It will make me the enemy to almost all the packs. It's treason!""Not unless you have the White Wolf on your side. You'll be unstoppable." She said, leading me on. "Think about it. Who will go against your power when you have the greatest wolf of all time."I paused to think about it. There were so many things that could go wrong. "Let's say I succeed in doing it. I kill the Alpha King. What happens if Gemma doesn't want to come with me? What if she doesn't want to work with me?" I asked. My mother frowned. "I'll kill the little brat too." She snapped, probably remembering how she had watched Gemma leave with the Alpha King.I gave her a look. She sighed deeply. "In as much as that slave irritates me, you have to find a way to win her over and better, get her to marry you. Make her your mate." She said."I rejected her. What makes you think she'll want to come back to me?" I asked."Don

GEMMADid he just speak about my hatred for him? Did he even know why I hated him? I didn't care. I was pissed. He'd called me a coward.Turning back, I marched right back to him about to say something. I exhaled, "Say it again." I threatened."What? You're acting like a coward?" Nate asked. My anger got the best part of me. I swung, balling my finger into fists and aiming straight for his face. I hit him and he grunted, turning his head to spit blood. My hand hurt like crazy and I flexed it by my side. I probably broke a finger with that hit but I wasn't going to let him see my pain.Yet, Nate smiled. It was big and genuine. It took me aback. I just hit this man and this was his reaction."There we go. That's what we're looking for." He flexed his jaw. "That was a pretty good hit."I parted slightly as I realized that I had been played. Nate egged me on on purpose to get a reaction out of me. And to be honest, I felt good. I wanted to be able to hit him some more."Fine." I agreed. "
