Chapter 22 Lina Three days later The morning sun poured through my curtains and filled my room with soft golden light. I opened my eyes slowly and stretched my arms above my head. A smile touched my lips before I even knew it was there. The past three days had been the happiest days I could remember in a long time. After everything that happened, after the tears, the confusion, the nights I could not sleep. I finally had Mick back beside me. We talked for hours some days. Other days we said nothing at all and just sat close, and that was enough. It felt peaceful. Like my chest could finally rest. This morning, though, he had to leave early for a business meeting. My shoulders dropped a little when he told me. But I knew work could not wait forever, so I let him go with a small kiss and a smaller pout. I climbed out of bed, still smiling to myself, and walked into the bathroom. After a quick shower, I stood in front of my closet, tapping one finger against my chin.
