The elevator ride was silent. There were no buttons in this elevator, just a glass panel that scanned Gabriel’s hand before taking us up. My stomach did a somersault as the numbers climbed. When the doors slid open, I actually stopped breathing for a second. The penthouse wasn't just an apartment. The walls were nothing but floor to ceiling windows. From up here, the city looked beautiful, peaceful, and small. It looked like something you could own. "It’s... a lot," I managed to whisper, my voice sounding thin in the open space.
