Anastasia The two pink lines on the pregnancy test strip stared back at me as I held it with trembling hands. For a moment, I just knelt there, staring at them, unable to breathe properly, afraid that if I blinked too hard they would disappear like an illusion.I was pregnant, I couldn’t believe this.A shaky laugh escaped my lips as I stared at the pregnancy strip in my hand. My eyes burned almost instantly, tears gathering as I pressed a hand against my mouth.“Oh my God…”I looked down at my stomach which was still flat beneath my dress, and something warm bloomed inside my chest. Happiness. For three years, I had dreamed of this moment, the moment when I finally got to prove that I was capable of carrying babies in my womb.Brandon never pressured me about children. If anything, he always told me we had time, that we were still young, that he already had everything he needed because he had me.And I believed him.I smiled through watery eyes and hugged the test strip to my chest

Anastasia Pain was the first thing I felt when my consciousness slowly returned.A sharp, unbearable pain that seemed to spread through every inch of my body.My head throbbed heavily, like someone had split it open, while a dull ache pulsed violently through my stomach.A weak groan escaped my lips as the smell of antiseptic drifted into my nose.My lashes fluttered weakly before I finally forced my eyes open. The bright white ceiling above me blurred in and out of focus, making my head spin painfully. I blinked repeatedly, trying to steady my vision while confusion slowly crept into my exhausted mind.Where was I?I shifted slightly and instantly regretted it.Pain tore through my abdomen so viciously that tears immediately sprang into my eyes.“Mrs. Moretti?”A face suddenly appeared above me. A man in white. His expression softened when he noticed I was awake.“How are you feeling?” he asked carefully.Terrible. That was how I felt.Like my body had been crushed from inside out.

Anastasia I stared blankly at the divorce papers for a long time after signing them. The papers rested limply in my hands while silence swallowed the hospital room whole. My chest still hurt unbearably, but strangely enough, I couldn't cry anymore. It was as though I had exhausted every tear inside me already.I had loved Brandon with everything I had.And in return, he destroyed me completely.A hollow laugh almost escaped my lips. How stupid had I been?I closed my eyes tightly and leaned my head back against the hospital bed.My baby was dead, my marriage was over, my family's company was slipping away from us because of my foolishness.Everything I touched seemed to fall apart.“I really ruined everything,” I whispered hoarsely. The sound of my own voice made my chest tighten painfully again.I slowly lowered my gaze toward my stomach. The emptiness there mirrored the one inside my chest, causing a fresh wave of grief to nearly suffocate me.I should have protected my child. No m

Damien's POVThe moment Anastasia's trembling hand settled into mine, a tension I hadn't realized I was carrying slowly eased from my chest. It didn’t completely go away, but at least I knew that I felt better. Much better than I was feeling few minutes ago. The wind continued to howl around us as she stepped down from the railing. For one terrifying moment, her knees almost buckled beneath her. Instinctively, I tightened my grip on her hand. She didn't pull away. She looked really exhausted. Tears still streaked her pale cheeks, and her eyes looked hollow from crying. The sight irritated me. Because someone had reduced her to this, and not because of her.For several moments, neither of us said a word to the other. The city lights glittered below us while the cold breeze swept across the rooftop.Eventually, she looked up at me.Her swollen eyes studied my face carefully. She looked like she was lowkey suspicious of me.Then she asked softly,"Why do you care, anyway?"I didn’t imm

Anastasia's POVThe words I just heard were unbelievable. For a moment, I just stared at Damien. Then I laughed. My laughter was obviously not because it was funny, but because it was ridiculous.I had just lost my baby less than a day ago, my marriage had collapsed, and my husband had cheated on me. And now Damien Moretti was standing in front of me asking me to have his child."You must be pulling my leg," I shook my head and laughed again. “I almost died a few hours ago and now you're doing this to make me feel better, right?"Damien didn't laugh with me. He didn't even smile. The amusement slowly left my face.He took one final drag from his cigarette before tossing it into a nearby ashtray. Then he looked directly at me."I'm very serious, Anastasia."Something about his tone made my stomach drop. He wasn't joking. Not even a little. He took a step closer."Become Mrs. Moretti again."My breath caught.“Carry my child,” he said, as he took one more step closer to me. “And I'll d
