Nathan’s Pov"Thirty-five missed calls?! Shit!" I called back. My assistant's voice came out breathless and desperate. Like the whole building was on fire. "Mr. Hayes, your mother's been calling nonstop. Mr. Morgan's been calling. Everyone's been calling. You missed the meeting. The supply chain meeting."I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked at the screen. Thirty-five missed calls. My mother. My assistant. Richard. Truly, everyone has been calling.“I've been gone for three days. Three days of driving. Three days trying to clear my head. Literally three days of nothing.” I thought."Mr. Morgan was furious. He said…""I don't care what he said.""Mr. Hayes…""I said I don't care."I hung up. I went back home that evening. When I stepped in, the house was unusually quiet. My mother was waiting in the foyer. Her arms were crossed so tight. Her face pinched up. Eyes blazing. She was breathing fast and sharp, like she'd been pacing back and forth for hours."Where have you been?
