Lahat ng Kabanata ng Reborn 60 Days Before The Apocalypse: Kabanata 41 - Kabanata 50

Scarlett took the last bite of her steak, her eyes practically rolling to the back of her head as the juicy flavour went down her throat. This was going to be her lifestyle, luxury meals for years to come. After licking her plate clean, she opened her laptop and connected it to the home security system. The feeds from every camera around the property appeared in their respective fragmented boxes on the screen. The workers had suggested that she used wireless connection to maintain her cameras since it was easier and she would not have to deal with the mess of cables. Scarlett knew better. When the floods rose sky-high, internet services and poles would come crashing down and the world would be cut away from each other. It would be like humanity had returned to the stone ages. Outside, the sky was almost black, blotting out the sun and stars. The wind continued to roar loudly. She watched the thermostat, seeing the temperature steadily dropping. Soon, she would need to turn on the

The moment Lily saw Scarlett, she threw her head back and burst into a loud cry. Scarlett froze in the doorway, hoping that at some point, Lily would stop but the little girl's sobs echoed even more through the underground garage.Scarlett frowned deeply. Not to sound insensitive but this was the worst time for the little girl to be shouting at the top of her lungs.Too much noise could attract unwanted attention. If someone came down here and saw her crying, they could see Scarlett’s house and begin to suspect that Scarlett was better off able to handle the apocalypse. She hurried over and lowered to a squat. “Hey, Hey. What's wrong? Why are you crying?”As soon as she touched Lily's forehead, Scarlett’s forehead scrunched, realizing something was wrong. Lily was burning up with a fever.Lily was hiccuping as she spoke. “Papa…he went out and he has not come home. The leaves have been hitting the windows. He told me to stay in the room but it's so scary…”Scarlett pulled her closer, s

It did not take long for Scarlett’s message to get swallowed in the midst of the messages from other people. Most of the residents did not know that she was the owner of the house she lived in since Shannon moved out. But Scarlett preferred it that way.She had only sent that message to identify with the side of people who did not have enough to eat. The less people knew about her, the better.Lily stirred on the couch, sitting up and blinking slowly in confusion. Scarlett straightened and turned to the girl in what she thought was a warm smile. “Hey, are you alright?”Lily blinked for a few seconds before she recognized Scarlett. “Scarlett. Where is Daddy?”“Your daddy went out to buy some things for you. He told me to take good care of you,” Scarlett said, standing and walking towards the kitchen. Lily followed after her, clinging close to her.The little girl must have been scared out of her wits to be left alone like that.“Do you mind stepping away, Lily?” The girl’s face crumple

Scarlett could guess who it was by now. There was a particular way that Leo knocked, firmly three times and he would wait without knocking again, certain that she would hear him.But she looked through the peephole for good measure. He was standing outside in the same outfit she had seen on him earlier. Behind him, there was another old security door leaning on the wall.Scarlett cracked open the door and poked her head outside. “Leo? Is something wrong?”He pointed to the door behind him. “I want to install this door outside the hallway entrance. That way we'll have two layers of protection."Scarlett stared at him for a few seconds. Why was he telling her? Did he think she would have a problem with it?If anything, she was in full support. That was three layers of protection that she would get for free. "Need a hand?" she asked, stepping out of her house.Leo paused, thinking as he scanned her from top to bottom, checking her physique. Scarlett could not blame him.She had gotten mu

Scarlett leaned closer to the laptop instinctively. Sure, the rain had eased up but the streets out there were flooded. How had the two of them gotten to the house so quickly? Shirley moved first and tried the handle of the house. It did not budge. Her and her boyfriend had a quick, hushed conversation and then, he pulled something small out of his pocket. He crouched beside the back door leading into the yard and worked on the lock for only a few seconds. With a soft click that echoed through the microphone of the camera, the door opened. Scarlett blinked in pleasant surprise. She had heard of people who could pick locks but she had never seen someone do it. She did not expect Shirley’s boyfriend to have that particular skill. The two of them entered the house and locked it behind them. Scarlett gathered a few supplies into a box and rushed downstairs to the shared underground hallway. She lightly knocked on the vacant house's basement door and then knocked again when t
