Lahat ng Kabanata ng Daddy Doesn't Remember Mommy: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 10

CHAPTER 2: Broken Doors and Burning HeartsElodie’s POVI pulled up to the massive mansion gates, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tight my knuckles turned white. This place used to feel like home.. now it just felt like a fancy cage I was finally escaping. As much as I wanted to be cold about it, to shrug off Reese like he was nothing, my chest ached like someone had punched a hole right through it. That handsome bastard.. I still loved him, damn it. Even after he signed those papers without a fight.. even after he looked at me like I was just another problem on his to-do list. I parked the car outside the front steps and sat there for a minute, staring at the big wooden doors as silent tears slipped down my cheeks before I could stop them. "Get it together, Elodie," I whispered to myself, wiping them away with the back of my hand. "You survived worse than this prick." But the memories kept hitting me... his laugh in our old shitty apartment, the way he'd pull me close af

CHAPTER 4: GhostsElodie’s POV"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our newest principal ballerina, the stunning Elodie Moreau, making her debut performance with the New York City Ballet tonight!" the announcer's voice boomed through the grand David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.I stepped onto the stage with my heart pounding so hard I could feel it in my throat. This was it.. my big comeback after three years of piecing my life back together, raising Chloé on my own and trying to forget the man who broke me. The audience sat in their fancy seats, all dressed up and ready to judge every move I made. I wore a soft white tutu that hugged my graceful figure perfectly, my long dark chestnut hair pulled into a sleek bun and my porcelain skin glowing under the bright stage lights. My expressive gray-blue eyes scanned the crowd quickly before I locked in.. time to show them what I was made of.The piano music started soft and haunting at first like a whisper of old memories and I b

CHAPTER 6: Shattered ReflectionsElodie's POVThe doors hissed shut behind me, finally cutting off the bright lights and the suffocating tension of the main hallway. I didn't stop moving. I couldn't. I practically threw myself down the narrow, dimly lit corridor that led to the abandoned prop storage. It was a dusty, forgotten corner of the theater. The second I knew I was completely alone, my legs simply stopped working. My knees gave out. I hit the rough brick wall and slid down until I was sitting on the cold, scuffed floorboards. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around my legs, trying desperately to hold myself together. It was useless. The dam broke.A sob ripped its way out of my throat. I pressed both hands over my mouth, terrified that someone would hear me falling apart. My shoulders shook violently. Tears poured down my face, hot and fast, ruining whatever was left of my stage makeup.*“Have we met before?”*His voice echoed in my head over and over aga

CHAPTER 8: Cracks in the Perfect LifeBetty's POVI waited until he retreated into the bedroom. I tried. I talked about our future but all he did was stare at me like I was a doll.He turned away, entered the master bed room and locked the door without holding me up in his arms to bed.He simply left like I did not belong…… I rushed over to the crystal wet bar in the corner of the room. My hands trembled so badly that the glass decanter clinked loudly against the rim of my glass. I poured a generous splash of vodka and swallowed it down dry. The alcohol burned the back of my throat but it did nothing to warm the freezing panic spreading through my veins.I could not lose this life. I simply refused.I looked around the room. The custom Italian furniture. The priceless modern art hanging on the walls. The massive diamond engagement ring sitting heavy and sparkling on my left finger. Thanks to Reese's mother, I slid right into the perfect spot after his accident. I couldn't afford to

CHAPTER 10: The Perfect CrimeElodie's POVI swallowed the bitter lump in my throat and ran my trembling thumb over the severed fabric.*Someone was in my locker.*A wave of panic crashed over me. I looked around the empty dressing room. The rows of gray metal lockers suddenly felt like they were closing in on me. The silence was deafening. My heart hammered against my ribs, beating so fast that I felt dizzy. Was someone watching me right now?I closed my eyes and sucked in a painful breath, forcing the air deep into my lungs.I had exactly seven minutes before Robert expected me back on the floor to run through my solo. Seven minutes to fix this nightmare or he would use my absence as the perfect excuse to strip my principal title away.I grabbed the destroyed shoes, shoved them into the crook of my arm and marched out of the dressing room. My blisters screamed with every fast step I took down the hallway but I completely ignored the pain.I found our senior stage manager, standin
