Lahat ng Kabanata ng Surrogate for the Lycan King : Kabanata 31 - Kabanata 40

Kelsey’s POV I sat on the edge of Varian's examination table, yet again, confused about the situation. First my blood reacted a little too hard to magic crystals which made them shatter, then a dead withering tree—which carried the life of a whole species— bloomed under my touch, and now a mark of some ancient missing woman was on a tree that I must have triggered. That's not even the worst part, when I went close enough to the mark on the tree, it appeared on my wrist which is why I am sitting here now like a loser waiting for some explanation I knew no one would give me because none of them actually understood WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS HAPPENING!!Can the moon Goddess or whatever god just give me a damn break? Everything is happening too much at the same time. And fast. Varian on the other hand had gone quiet, the way he does when he's deciding how much truth I can handle, and I was tired of that look. I was tired of everyone making that choice for me."Show me the symbol again," I

Kelsey’s POV I was still half-tangled in the memory of that vision when Zeus knocked on my door before I'd even finished pulling my shoes on.Something in his face told me before he said a word."What happened now," I said. Not a question. A demand. He hesitated just for a second, and that hesitation told me everything I needed to know about what he'd almost done — try to handle it quietly, without telling me, the same old habit creeping back in."Tell me, Zeus. Now."He exhaled. "Our shadow guards near Oakridge identified the person watching the house. And he's not one of Malakai's men. He belongs to a northern rogue pack."My stomach dropped straight through the floor. "Is Maya safe? My mother?""They haven't been touched," he said quickly, firmly, like he wanted that fact to land before anything else could scare me. "My guards haven't let anyone near either of them. Not for a single moment."Relief hit me so hard my knees actually went weak for a second. I gripped the edge of my d

Chapter Thirty-Five — One Piece they missed“She really did have a daughter” I heard Varian say as he directly looked at me. I was taken aback because why was he looking at me? Did we have a connection or something? Maybe that will explain the mark on my hand. I didn't ask if I was the descendant though. That will be too forward. And that question felt too big to touch first, like reaching for the wrong end of a hot poker. Instead, I asked the only thing that made sense to ask."Who was she?"Varian looked down at the fragment again, his fingers hovering over the faded script like he was afraid touching it too roughly might destroy the only proof left. "I don't know yet. The evidence confirms she existed. It doesn't tell us who she became.""How do you even know she existed?" I pressed. "If the records were erased, where did this come from?""This wasn't part of the official history," Varian explained. "This survived because it was attached to older material, kept separately, and cou

Chapter Thirty-Seven — A Blood Like MineKelsey’s POV I found Varian and Zeus buried behind a wall of old leather-bound books, dust thick enough to make my nose itch the second I walked in.Word had reached me that Zeus had finished the Council meeting and that was my queue to find him. “So how did it go? Am I going to die?” “Kelsey.” He said, tilting his head to one side. “What? It was only a question and besides you never know what those old men are capable of.” He gave a very faint smile. “Nothing happened, Kelsey. And no one dies under my protection. Especially not You.”I was stunned by his firmness and the assuring look in his eyes. Like he'd rather die than let them hurt me and I felt a strange sensation in my stomach then I waved it off. “Oh..okay… uhmmm thanks.” was all I could say which sounded stupid but who cares. "What’s all this?" I asked, eyeing the stack.“Remember we confirmed that the Sovereign's daughter survived?” “Yes. I remember.” Hmph, like I could for

Chapter Thirty-Nine — Secrets of House D'AveronZeus POV I read the physician's final note three times before I let myself believe what it actually said.It did not look like a casual instruction scrawled by someone with no authority. It was formal and deliberate, written in the same careful language used in official commands when the royal household still kept strict records of who was allowed to touch what. The person who wrote it knew exactly what he was doing and wanted every detail recorded properly."Who could have given an order like this?" I asked Varian, tapping the brittle page."Not just anyone I presume" he said. "Physicians serving the royal household didn't conduct sensitive examinations on their own authority. Especially not on a member of the Sovereign family. Someone with real standing would have needed to approve, or in this case, forbid, further testing.""Then let's find out who."We spent the better part of the afternoon tracing every document backward, one clue
