Lahat ng Kabanata ng TAMING HARRISON COLE: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 10

At 4:12 a.m., Jasmine Carter woke to a dark apartment and the silence of a refrigerator that had stopped humming. She reached for her phone, hoping the problem was a temporary outage. Then she remembered the unpaid electricity bill. The digital meter beside her door was blank.Another bill she couldn't afford. Her phone lit up with a notification from the pharmacy, reminding her of an outstanding balance. Jasmine stared at it for a moment before turning off the screen. She still had to get to work. Whatever difficulties she was facing, her patients were depending on her.As Jasmine prepared for work, fragments of the dream kept returning to her.****She saw him first by the frozen foods, pushing a cart as if he had never walked out of her life. She begged him not to leave. They had built a life together, and she couldn't understand how he could walk away from everything they had planned."You promised you'd stay.” Her voice broke. He wouldn't meet her eyes. The man who had promised he

Jasmine's eyes snapped open as the shrill ring from her phone invaded her slumber. She stretched her hands towards the table, grabbing her phone. “Who is it at this hour? “ Jasmine muttered, her thumb sliding to answer. “Good morning sis”, Jasper's voice said from the other end. Morning kiddo, is everything okay?, Jasmine asked. “Not really sis, my school fees would be due next week and the landlord came to ask for his rent yesterday”, he replied. “I didn't forget. Jasmine said, now fully sitting on her bed. Sleep had left her eyes."How is mom?” she added. “She went to get water in the kitchen”, her brother said.Okay, tell her I would call her later and be a good boy,she finally said.“Okay sis, thank you. I love you” . “ I love you too,” Jasmine replied. The screen lit up as soon as the call ended; 5:30 am. “But I had barely slept”, she said loudly. She stretched herself and standing up she muttered” If I don't do it,who will? So I'm doing it”. By 7:30 am ,Jasmine was a

Immediately Jasmine left , Margaret Cole's eyes landed on Harrison scanning his condition, breathing and posture.“Son”, she called.“Mother, I'm fine”, Harrison responded. She moved closer to the bed, stopping just close enough to touch him.“You weren't supposed to end up here”, she said softly .“I didn't schedule it”, he muttered. The door clicked then it pushed open diverting Margaret's attention. Dr. Richard Lawson stepped in carefully with Jasmine Carter following him behind. He stopped a few feet away from the bed while Jasmine stayed close to the IV stand. Then she looked at Lawson “You are overseeing this case?”, Margaret asked not waiting for his greetings.“Yes I am”, Dr. Richard Lawson answered.“Then explain the delay”,she said with an increased tone.Lawson didn't react to the tone.“There is no delay. There is recovery”. Margaret's eyes narrowed slightly. “That is not the same thing”“It is in medicine“. Lawson replied evenly.Harrison spoke before it escalated furt

The ward had barely settled after Margaret Cole’s departure when Jasmine returned to the nurses’ station. The conversation with Harrison’s mother still weighed on her.“Do not make emotional decisions in this environment.”Jasmine had heard the words clearly, but she refused to allow them to disturb her work. Margaret Cole was not the first wealthy relative to question a nurse’s competence, and she would not be the last. She placed the chart she was holding on the desk and reviewed the morning observations. Room 301 remained under close monitoring. Harrison Cole’s vital signs were stable for the moment, though his condition still required careful observation. His pain had reduced slightly after medication, but he remained difficult, impatient and unwilling to follow instructions without argument.Jasmine checked the time. Her shift still had several hours left. She had to work 2 shifts since she was in charge of Harrison's care and there was also an increase in her salary.“Jasmine.” S

It was a new day, but the hospital still carried the heavy grief of the patient they had lost.Emily walked towards Jasmine with two cups of coffee in her hands."Morning, Jasmine. Coffee?" she offered, holding one out.Jasmine looked up at the cup."I don't drink coffee during work hours, Emily."Emily raised a brow. "But you drank half of mine yesterday.""That was different," Jasmine said."How?""You were exhausted," Emily said."And today I'm energetic," Jasmine replied. Emily gave her a look.“Thank you,” Jasmine said with a smile as she stretched out her hands to collect the cup.For a while, neither of them spoke. Then Emily said, “His daughter came back this morning.”Jasmine’s hand stopped halfway to her mouth.“The patient from 307?”Emily nodded.“She wanted to see him.”Jasmine looked toward the empty room.“She still hasn’t accepted it,she kept asking whether the team could have done more.”Jasmine lowered the cup.“What did you tell her?”“That everyone tried.”Emily’s
