Amelia's POVPeople think monsters live in dark forests or haunted houses…. mine wore football jerseys. The worst mistake I ever made at Blackthorne University was letting them notice me. For a year, I'd mastered the art of being invisible, it took less than sixty seconds to ruin it.-----"Here we go again." I tightened my grip on the handlebar of my bicycle, adjusting the strap of my backpack before pushing through Blackthorne University's towering iron gates.Students streamed past me in groups, laughing like they hadn't spent the last three months apart, their suitcases rolling across the pavement.A roar erupted somewhere ahead, followed by whistles and excited screams.I didn't have to look to know where it was coming from….The football field.I sighed under my breath and kept walking.Hey! Ball!"The shout made me stop. I looked down at the football resting against the front wheel of my bicycle.I picked it up, ready to throw it back. The field was already packed, girls were pr

Zane's POVThe engine of my Ferrari SF90 Stradale hummed beneath us as we turned into the long driveway leading to the Calloway estate. From a distance, I could already see them, reporters….a whole pack of them, pressed against the gate.I let out a slow breath. "Bloody reporters." I leaned back against the leather seat. "Can't they let me breathe for one second?"Jaxon laughed from the passenger seat. "Bro, you're Zane Calloway, Blackthorne's golden boy." He glanced at the crowd gathered outside the gate. "What did you expect? Everyone loves you.”Mason chuckled from the back seat. "Well...not everyone. “That chick from earlier.” A slow grin spread across his face. "Did you see the way she looked at you? With pure hate."Jaxon burst out laughing. "I've never seen anyone look at you like that.""Same." Mason shook his head. "No one's ever ever crossed you, Zane. She's the first."A small laugh escaped me. "She has no idea what she just signed herself up for.”Jaxon smirked, turning to

Amelia's POVThe moment I stepped through Blackthorne's gates, something felt... off. I could feel it. Eyes followed me across the courtyard, a dozen of them.A girl walking past glanced at me, then leaned toward her friend, whispering into her ears. They both looked back, laughing.I frowned but kept walking.A group of freshmen stood outside the Arts building, crowded around someone's phone. One of them looked up as I passed. He nudged the boy beside him, both of them turned to look at me then they looked back at the screen.I tightened my grip on my backpack strap. What was going on?More students drifted past me, they were all staring openly and laughing. My steps slowed. Has something happened?"Amelia!" I turned just as Lena hurried toward me, her bag bouncing against her shoulder."There you are." She smiled, then stopped when she saw my face. "What's wrong?"I looked around. "I... don't know." I lowered my voice. "Everyone keeps looking at me."Lena followed my gaze, her smile

Amelia's POV "Mom?"She looked up and the confusion on her face made my chest tighten.“That's the fifth cancellation today," she said quietly. "Mrs. Harrison, the Coles, three others I've had for almost two years." She shook her head slowly. "They all called within an hour of each other and nobody's giving me a reason.""How many?" I asked, pulling a seat close to hers."Almost all of them, Amelia." Her voice cracked. "Almost every contract I have."My stomach dropped. “How?""I don't know." She rubbed her forehead. "Everything was fine yesterday.”‘𝑰𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒇 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆.’The words echoed in my head.Serena…..My fingers curled into a fist.I pushed my chair back. "Mom, I'm sorry."Her eyebrows pulled together. "Sorry for? Why are you apologizing?""I'm sorry. I should have….""Amelia." She reached across the table and took my hand."This isn't your fault,

Amelia's POV “Shit…….”The car was moving at my exact walking speed. My grip tightened around my bag as I picked up my pace.I looked back again when the engine grew louder. The car sped up, coming straight at me.I moved toward the edge of the road but the car came alongside me so quickly that I stumbled back.I shrieked, throwing an arm over my face."Relax…I wasn't trying to kill you."I paused, I knew that voice. Slowly, I lowered my arm.Zane Calloway was behind the wheel, one hand resting casually on it. The roof of the car was down, and the faint light from the dashboard caught the side of his face.I stared at him. "What are you doing?"He looked at me like I had asked the most obvious question in the world. "Driving.”"You know," he chuckled, "for someone who claims she isn't scared of anything, you sure do walk fast when you think something's chasing you.”"Why are you following me?” I frowned. He glanced at the road ahead before looking back at me. "You left school late. Y
