Semua Bab I'm Done Being Your Donna: Bab 1 - Bab 8

Sofia's POVWhen I arrived at my husband Domenico Vitale's office, he was reading a report from his secretary, Camilla Marino. He didn't even look up when I told him I wanted a divorce. Instead, a cold chuckle escaped him."Another tantrum? Sofia Moretti, is this because I didn't come home for dinner last night? Don't joke about things like this. It's not funny."I lowered my gaze, swallowing the hollow ache in my chest, and enunciated, "I'm not joking, Domenico. I want a divorce."At last, Domenico looked up at me. He came around his desk and reached for my hand, his touch gentle and familiar. I pulled away. His hand froze in midair.A barely perceptible frown creased his brow before his expression smoothed over again."I know you're upset about what happened with the pregnancy, but you're carrying our baby. You shouldn't be taking so many medications. Camilla was only carrying out my orders. You shouldn't have gone after her."Besides, I restored your access to the family fund

Sofia's POVIn the end, I knocked on Professor Victor Harrington's door. The white-haired scholar took one look at me, disheveled and worn out, and didn't ask a single question. He simply stepped aside and let me in, as if I were still his best student. My eyes stung, and tears rolled down my cheeks.Years ago, when I gave up a full scholarship and insisted on marrying the man I thought was my true love, Victor had opposed it vehemently. He even refused to attend my wedding and only sent me a text that day."Sofia, a man's mercy might save you, but it will destroy your soul. In a world where the strong prey on the weak, anyone who begs for mercy is doomed to spend the rest of their lives on their knees."Time had proven Victor right. After I had cried myself empty, he finally pushed up his glasses and spoke. "I hope you didn't forget everything you learned during those years with him."There's a research project in a nature reserve. You'll have to go deep into the mountains to

Third-Person POVDr. Green's voice was filled with fear and barely above a whisper. "Don Vitale, I-I tried to reach you that night, but you told me… not to bother you with some woman's trivial problems. You were busy celebrating with Camilla."At that moment, the memory of that night flashed through Domenico's mind. The family had just secured a new smuggling route along the east coast. He had been in the penthouse ballroom, popping bottles of Dom Perignon while Camilla, dressed in a fiery red gown, stood beside him with her arm linked through his.The whole family had been celebrating. He didn't want anything to ruin the celebration, so he blocked Sofia's messages and every emergency alert from the clinic. He even ordered her communications to be cut off, all to soothe Camilla after the supposed humiliation Sofia had put her through.A wave of dizziness swept over him, followed by a dull ache in his head. Why had Sofia, who had always been gentle and obedient, suddenly made su

Sofia's POVIn the end, Domenico left me enough money to buy half the Vitale family's territory, along with the luxurious villa that had witnessed the three years of our marriage.I went back there once. Nothing in the villa had been touched.Inside the walk-in closet, the designer gowns and jewelry I had once been forbidden to touch, pieces I had begged for like a beggar, now lay there pristinely. The safe's combination had been changed to my birthday. It took me two days to donate everything to a shelter for women who had escaped organized crime and those who had been abandoned. My phone vibrated with an unread text."Sofia, why did you sell all those things? Are you short on money? I can give you more."I blocked the number immediately. At dusk, the doorbell rang. It was Domenico's Underboss, holding the deed to a piece of the Vitale family's territory. He stumbled over his words. "Don Vitale says the assets in the divorce agreement aren't enough. He wants you to have his
