There were only two more days until the waiting period for the divorce was over. So, Anthony went back to his old place near the campus to clean up. He was going to move in after the divorce was finalized.Anthony opened up the wardrobe. There, he found his old T-shirts he had owned back from his college days. He pulled his drawers open, revealing two yellowing books, some certificates, and a box of long-expired condoms. The deepest drawer was stuck. So, he ended up yanking it as hard as he could just to open it. Fortunately, the drawer eventually budged even though the contents in its embrace spilled everywhere. Just then, a black USB drive fell onto Anthony's foot. He didn't remember owning it, but he picked it up anyway. After he took a closer look at it, it didn't seem like this old Kingston drive was anything special.Still, he plugged it into his laptop just in case. There was only one file inside, and it read 'wallet_4735.txt'. He was intrigued, so he clicked on the file.

Anthony arrived at FairNJust the first thing in the morning. FairNJust was located in an old building hidden behind Bresenia Mercy Hospital. There was a row of motorcycles before the entrance, and two middle-aged men crouched on the steps of the stairs. They were smoking so heavily that the air around them was hazy and filled with nicotine.Anthony parked his car by the road and strode into the agency. The receptionist was a woman in her 40s. She was scrolling through some short videos, and she even had those videos on blast. She didn't bother looking up when the door opened, drawling, "What do you want?""DNA test."The woman finally looked up at Anthony, sizing him up. Her eyes fell upon his bleached jacket, untrimmed beard, and sunken eyes. 'Another guy who wants proof that he's cheated on,' she thought disparagingly. She'd seen plenty of men like him, betrayed husbands looking for confirmation. In her mind, the result was already a foregone conclusion."Personal or lega

"Darius, he just said he's not getting a divorce. Do you think he suspects something?" Linda typed quickly as her eyes repeatedly darted to the window warily.Darius' answer came a moment later. "I don't think so. He's been none the wiser for the last few years.""He's been acting strange today. I mean it." She bit her lip as her eyes bored holes into Anthony's shut room. "You know he used to be a trust fund baby. He was arrogant, overbearing, and malicious. He might kill me if he finds out about us."This time, Darius's response took a little longer to arrive. "Just keep him happy. He gives you money every month. You can ask Tim to check if he's getting suspicious."She stared at the screen, her finger hovering over the keyboard for a long, long while. "You never did anything for me or Tim. You're divorced, yet you still won't let us live with you?""You know you always have a place in my heart. My divorce is just the first step of my plan. Calm down. We'll become a proud couple

Anthony tucked his phone away and waited for Timothy beyond the crowd, mentally calculating the fees needed for all the extracurricular activities. Fencing classes was the most expensive one of the lot, coming at a total of 38 grand annually. Of course, the bill did not include the cost of the equipment Timothy was going to need. The robotics class came second at 28 grand a year, and competition gear wasn't included either.Cello was a niche instrument and hard to learn. It cost 22 grand annually, and the instrument was not included either. He found his lips curling when he totaled the cost as it came out to nearly 100 grand, which was about how much Linda made a year. Perfect.Still, that was just the beginning. She still had to pay for competitions, exams, equipment, change of instruments, and more. Every single one of those bills would burn a hole in her pocket for years and years to come.Once the bills hit, she would have no choice but to pay every single cent of it. True

"By the way, I didn't make dinner." Anthony took a step before turning around. "Why don't you make something? It's been a while since I had your cooking." Then, he went to the balcony for a smoke. He wasn't blind to the weird look on Linda's face, but he ignored it anyway.…Meanwhile, Linda was wondering what Anthony meant earlier. Her eyes rested on his silhouette as she began to wonder whether he'd found her out.She was so deep into that rabbit hole that she'd completely forgotten that he had just asked her to cook. So, she was still spacing out when he came back from his cigarette break. In the end, he prodded, "What's with you? Get your head out of the clouds! You'll be going hungry if you're not cooking tonight."That snapped her out of it, forcing her eyes to land on the nonchalant Anthony. She felt her heart seize for whatever reason, but she quickly went into the kitchen. It was only after she turned on the stove that she wondered, 'Why did I feel nervous just now
