I mean, you’re basically asking for a map of an entire universe. On fanfiction.net, the classic pairing is obviously Harry and Hermione—so many 'Harmony' stories where they solve everything together and Ron gets, well, sidelined. It's practically a sub-genre of its own. Then you’ve got Draco and Hermione, that whole 'Dramione' tension, which thrives on enemies-to-lovers tropes and pureblood politics. It’s a massive category, full of redemption arcs and sometimes very questionable morality from both sides.
But the real interesting ones are the less obvious ones that pop up everywhere once you start digging. Sirius and Remus, for sure—'Wolfstar' has a huge, dedicated following that reads all that marauders-era longing into every line of canon. And then there’s the 'ships that make you go 'huh' at first, like Snape and Hermione or even Harry and Luna. Those feel like they come from a very specific reader desire to pair the pragmatic with the profoundly weird, and I’m not always convinced, but the writers go for it with such passion. Honestly, scrolling through the pages, it sometimes feels like every possible combination has been explored at least twice, for better or worse.

Dramione. Hands down. It dominates the front page on fanfiction.net more often than not, especially for stories with higher word counts. There’s something about that antagonistic dynamic that writers just can’t leave alone, and readers eat up the slow-burn hate-to-love stuff. It’s not my personal favorite—I find a lot of it leans too hard into making Draco secretly a soft poetic soul—but you can’t deny its popularity.
Harry and Ginny has a solid, quieter presence too, mostly from folks who wanted to expand on what the books gave us. And then there’s the weirdly persistent niche of Tom Riddle/Harry Potter, which I will never understand but it’s there, often under the 'Tomarry' tag, exploring dark academia and power dynamics. The site’s structure means these pairings have been cataloged for years, so you can find decade-old epics sitting right next to new ones.

Common? Ron and Hermione is right there in the source material, but on fanfiction.net, it’s often treated as the boring baseline everyone writes against. The popular departures are more interesting: Harry with Daphne Greengrass, this 'Ice Queen' of Slytherin invented almost entirely by fans, which says a lot about wanting a politically savvy, neutral-party partner. Or Neville and Luna, which is just sweet and feels right. You also see a ton of Sirius/Remus and James/Lily for the previous generation stuff. The sheer volume of Drarry (Draco/Harry) is overwhelming, it’s its own ecosystem.

He pressed him against the door, breath hot, voice ragged.
“If you don’t want this… tell me to stop.”
A pause. A heartbeat.
“I can’t.”

Some obsessions aren’t meant to be touched.
Some men aren’t meant to be loved.
And some desires don’t care.
This collection isn’t about perfect love. It’s about the one you weren’t supposed to want—
Another man.
Your brother’s best friend.
Your enemy’s son.
Your professor.
Your fake fiancé.
The man who shouldn’t look at you like that. The man you can’t stop wanting.
Every story is a man falling for another man when he shouldn’t—and doing it anyway.
Fast-paced, emotionally sharp, and dangerously seductive, every story in Burnt Offerings dives headfirst into the hunger we deny, the rules we break, and the lovers we were warned to stay away from.
Some affairs stay in the dark. Others start wildfires.
This isn't a love story.
It's all the ones you swore you’d never tell.
All of them about men who should have walked away from each other… but didn’t.
They took everything from her. Her freedom, her pack, and her name.
Sofia Fletcher has survived four years of slavery, a mate who rejected her for her own stepsister, and the kind of cruelty that teaches you never to hope. She has one rule left: trust no one.
Then Draco walks into an auction house and takes her.
He doesn't bid. He doesn't ask. He simply crosses a room full of bowed heads because when the most powerful being alive enters, everyone drops their eyes, and he takes her home.
He is an Alpha King like no other. Werewolf. Vampire. Demon king. Dragon slayer. Immortal. And he has been searching for Sofia for years, because she is the one thing in his long, terrible life he cannot walk away from.
His fated mate.
Sofia wants nothing to do with him. She is an Omega the lowest rank in pack society with a dangerous secret buried in her blood, and a past that left scars no one is allowed to touch. Draco is patient, possessive, and impossible to ignore, and the mate bond humming beneath her skin is beginning to feel less like a curse and more like an answer.
But Sofia's secret is the kind that gets witches killed. And Draco's world is full of enemies including the brother who wants to destroy him, and the father who will use anyone to take back what he lost.
Falling for the Alpha King was never the plan but fate has it's own plan.
When the Golden boy rejects Hermione for the Queen Bee; her cousin, the whole realm becomes set to experience a new emergence.
"You!" I yell, pushing his shoulder. A small smile played on his lips, as he drinks in the sight of my drenched hair and dress.
"Eyes here! You don't..." His lips suddenly clasp over mine, as his right hand comes to hold my hair gently. My eyes were out in shock. I try to push him... his tongue teasing and seeking... My whole being betrays as my eyes close in surrender…
I kiss him back passionately, caressing his soft hair... A bright light shines above us when I suddenly unlatch my shaky lips to catch my breath. The full moon.
"Magnificent, huh?" He asks, taking a look at the sky. I shakily nod. I was very much speechless.
My eyes saunter back to his swollen lips...
"My Prince!" Some royal guards call, running to the pool.

Everyone always jumps straight to Draco/Hermione or Harry/Hermione, but honestly, the real backbone of the archive feels like Wolfstar to me. Sirius/Remus has this unbelievable staying power that newer ships just don’t match. It’s less about the canon moments and more about the decades of fan-built mythology—the tragic backstory, the mutual pining, the what-ifs. Whole genres of fic exist just for them. Drarry gets all the buzz for being the popular ‘enemies’ pairing, but Wolfstar feels like the emotional core for a huge part of the fandom, especially for those of us who’ve been around long enough to see trends come and go.
I think its popularity also comes from how it slots perfectly into the Marauders’ Era, which itself is a massive fan playground. You get to explore their youth, the first war, Azkaban… the angst potential is basically endless. It’s the ship that taught a generation how to write slow-burn tragedy.
