Everyone always jumps straight to Draco/Hermione or Harry/Hermione, but honestly, the real backbone of the archive feels like Wolfstar to me. Sirius/Remus has this unbelievable staying power that newer ships just don’t match. It’s less about the canon moments and more about the decades of fan-built mythology—the tragic backstory, the mutual pining, the what-ifs. Whole genres of fic exist just for them. Drarry gets all the buzz for being the popular ‘enemies’ pairing, but Wolfstar feels like the emotional core for a huge part of the fandom, especially for those of us who’ve been around long enough to see trends come and go.
I think its popularity also comes from how it slots perfectly into the Marauders’ Era, which itself is a massive fan playground. You get to explore their youth, the first war, Azkaban… the angst potential is basically endless. It’s the ship that taught a generation how to write slow-burn tragedy.

Drarry is obviously massive, and has been for years. It’s the classic enemies-to-lovers dynamic, but with the specific, delicious tension of Draco’s upbringing clashing with Harry’s moral center. A lot of the best fics use it to deconstruct pure-blood ideology or explore post-war trauma in a way the books only glanced at. The sheer volume of high-quality, novel-length Drarry fics is kind of insane.
Though, sometimes I get bored of the same redemption arcs. Lately I’ve preferred Snarry—Snape/Harry—which is way more divisive but fascinating when done well. It’s not for everyone, but the power imbalance and bitter history can make for a really complex, messed-up story if the writer knows what they’re doing. It’s a niche within a niche, but its fans are fiercely dedicated.

Harmony (Harry/Hermione) still has a huge, very vocal base, especially among readers who wanted that endgame in the books. Ron/Hermione shippers and Harry/Ginny shippers often get into it with them, which keeps the ship relevant through sheer debate energy. It’s interesting how its popularity splits between ‘missing moment’ fics set during Hogwarts and full alternate universe rewrites where they end up together.

Some obsessions aren’t meant to be touched.
Some men aren’t meant to be loved.
And some desires don’t care.
This collection isn’t about perfect love. It’s about the one you weren’t supposed to want—
Another man.
Your brother’s best friend.
Your enemy’s son.
Your professor.
Your fake fiancé.
The man who shouldn’t look at you like that. The man you can’t stop wanting.
Every story is a man falling for another man when he shouldn’t—and doing it anyway.
Fast-paced, emotionally sharp, and dangerously seductive, every story in Burnt Offerings dives headfirst into the hunger we deny, the rules we break, and the lovers we were warned to stay away from.
Some affairs stay in the dark. Others start wildfires.
This isn't a love story.
It's all the ones you swore you’d never tell.
All of them about men who should have walked away from each other… but didn’t.
Since the very first time Hunter Jones laid his eyes on a petite Asian , Mey Wang, he couldn't take his eyes off her. The resident bad boy is willing to duck his nose deep in Harry Potter books and learn every spell known just to get closer to the Potter-head .
Mey likes Hunter but not in a romantic way. She thinks they're too different. She's a nerd and he's a bad boy. Of course, there're a lot of books about a bad boy and a nerd falling in and walking to the sunset together but she's not just a nerd, she's also an Asian. Her parents are old-fashioned people, they'd never approve of someone like Hunter.
So she tries her best to escape him. But can you really escape ? There's a potion in the spellbook but there's no un- potion, right?
QOTD: Don't let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you . And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don't like them. Stacy London.

Everyone always jumps to Harry and Hermione, but honestly, the most interesting setups come from the less obvious matches. I've seen a few where post-Order of the Phoenix Sirius falls through a Veil malfunction and lands in the Clone Wars era. The dynamic of this broken, reckless man being thrown into a galaxy of absolute black-and-white morality, and maybe being trained by a Jedi who's just as disillusioned, like Qui-Gon or a younger Dooku? That's where the real character drama is. It's not about power scaling, it's about two very damaged people trying to figure out what 'fighting for the light' even means when their own worlds have been so dark.
A pairing I stumbled on that shouldn't work but somehow does is Luna Lovegood paired with a Jedi, often a younger Knight like Ahsoka Tano or Kanan Jarrus. Her unique perception of the Force, seeing nargles and wrackspurts as manifestations of cosmic energy, creates a fascinating alternative to the standard midi-chlorian explanation. The stories are usually less about epic battles and more about quiet, philosophical exploration, which is a nice palate cleanser after all the lightsaber-versus-wand duels.
Frankly, the Ron/Hermione/Jedi love triangle trope feels overplayed to me now—it usually just rehashes the same insecurities Ron had in canon, but with a lightsaber added. I'd much rather read about a grown-up Neville Longbottom finding his courage mirrored in a Jedi Padawan who's also struggling to live up to a legacy, or even a story where the pairing isn't romantic at all, but a master-apprentice bond between, say, Albus Dumbledore and Yoda, debating the nature of power and sacrifice over tea.
