Kennedy Ryan tends to write standalone novels, actually. I was surprised too when I first went through her backlist. She has these interconnected books, but they aren't traditional series where you follow the same couple over multiple books. It's more like you'll see characters from 'Long Shot' pop up in 'Hook Shot', or the world of 'The Kingmaker' and 'The Rebel King' which is a duet—that's the closest she gets to a true series.
Even her earlier books under the pen name Noelle August are mostly separate stories set in a shared universe. So if you're looking for a long saga following one set of characters, you might be disappointed. But the upside is you can jump in almost anywhere without feeling lost. I kind of prefer it that way; each book feels complete in its own emotional arc.
Wait, are we counting duets? Because 'The Kingmaker' and 'The Rebel King' are definitely a two-part series, and I'd argue 'Hook Shot' and 'Long Shot' are loosely linked as part of her 'Hoops' books, even if they feature different main couples. She also wrote the 'Grip' trilogy with 'Flow', 'Grip', and 'Still', which is a continuous story about one relationship. So that's at least two clear series structures right there.
Her style leans into these deep, singular love stories, so she doesn't do lengthy series often. But those duologies and trilogies pack a serious punch. You get the satisfaction of a longer narrative without the commitment of seven or eight books.
Honestly, I had to go check my Kindle to count. Excluding standalones, I see three sets: the 'Hoops' books (two, maybe three if you count the novella), the 'All the King's Men' duet, and the 'Grip' trilogy. So that's a handful, but most of her catalog are powerful single titles. She's not an author who churns out endless series installments.

You want emotional dynamite, start with 'Long Shot'. It's not an easy read—the content warnings are serious and should be checked—but it lays out her whole blueprint. Ryan writes romance that refuses to stay in a comfort zone; she tackles heavy, real-world trauma within the genre's framework, and this book is her most intense statement of intent. The basketball backdrop is almost secondary to the visceral character journey.
If that sounds too heavy for an intro, slide into 'The Kingmaker' instead. It's the start of her Rebel King duet and has more of a political thriller pace woven into the love story. You still get her signature depth and social consciousness, but the plot machinery gives you something to hold onto besides the emotional whiplash. It’s how I got my sister hooked on her work.
As a long-time Kennedy Ryan follower, I check her website and Amazon author page most often—they’re reliably updated. Her newsletter is honestly the best source for early covers, pre-order links, and behind-the-scenes details. I signed up after missing the initial announcement for 'Before I Let Go' and felt so behind.
Social media can be hit or miss depending on how much she's promoting versus writing, but her Instagram stories sometimes share countdowns. I wouldn't rely solely on Goodreads or retail sites; they occasionally lag a day or two. The newsletter feels like getting a note from a friend who's in the know.
