Funny. This song in a completely quiet indie film about a relationship breaking up would be hilarious because of the huge tonal shift. And this song is stuck to the loudest film of the loudest director of them all. There’s something beautiful about it though. The most sensitive song for the least sensitive movie.

Of course, it worked because the movie was all id and the song was the superego attempting to make sense of it all. It gave the explosions a heart. The movie would have been a completely mindless action flick without the song but as it stands, it is a mindless action flick that makes me cry. That’s a very unusual trick of magic that only gets to be played once.
