Might be an unpopular take, but I enjoyed ‘Hook, Line, and Sinker’ much more. Fox is a top-tier book boyfriend. That said, I’m glad I read Piper’s story first.

It made Fox’s character more interesting, knowing his history as the town’s flirt. His growth in the sequel feels monumental when you’ve seen his starting point. If I’d read his book first, I’d just think he was a sweet guy with insecurities, missing the contrast.

Wait, are there more than two books? I thought it was just a pair. Now I’m wondering if I missed a novella or something.

I’m only halfway through the first one, so I can’t speak to the sequel yet! The hype seems real though. Piper is a hilarious protagonist.

Release order is the intended order. 'It Happened One Summer' (2021), then 'Hook, Line, and Sinker' (2022). The author wrote them that way for a reason.

You get the full character development for the sisters, and the supporting cast remains consistent. Fox is introduced as a flirtatious side character in book one, so seeing him get his own book feels like a reward. Skipping ahead might dilute that 'ah, finally!' feeling.

Sequels to 'It Happened One Summer' have been a delightful surprise for many fans, myself included! After reading the first book, I just couldn't get enough of the characters and the charming setting. The wonderful thing is that there's a follow-up titled 'Hook, Line, and Sinker.' This continuation provides us with more of the enchanting chemistry between the leads and dives deeper into their relationships and personal challenges. The author really knows how to craft compelling narratives that keep you hooked and invested in the characters' journeys. In 'Hook, Line, and Sinker,' you'll find a fresh perspective as it shifts focus to characters we got a glimpse of in the first book. It's always exciting to explore backstories of secondary characters and see how they evolve. The friends-to-lovers trope hits just right, and if you loved the banter from the first book, you're in for a treat. You'll laugh, cry, and cheer for the characters as they navigate love and life in the adorable seaside town, which is almost like a character itself throughout the books. If you haven't read 'Hook, Line, and Sinker' yet, trust me—it’s worth diving into! With its mix of humor, romance, and relatable challenges, it just might become one of your favorites. You won’t regret getting swept away in these charming tales!

Which chapters of It Happened One Summer are the spiciest to read?

I read it on my e-reader, and let's just say my 'percentage complete' feature became a countdown to certain chapters. Seeing I was at 65% and knowing what was likely coming added to the anticipation. The 70-85% range is where most of the action is, if you want a non-chapter-specific guide.

In what order should you read the Something Like Summer novels?

The emotional resonance is completely different depending on where you start. 'Summer' feels like first love and heartbreak. 'Winter' feels like regret and longing. If you read 'Winter' first, you start with regret, which casts a pall over the entire first-love memory. It's a heavier, but maybe more mature, entry point.

What is the hello summer book's reading order?

Sunshine makes me want to reorganize my TBR, so when someone asks about the reading order for 'Hello Summer' I immediately go detective-mode. First thing I check: is 'Hello Summer' a standalone or part of a series? If it’s a standalone, you’re blessedly free to dive in and savor it without worrying about cliffhanger chronology. If it’s in a series, I look for a series page on the author’s site or on Goodreads—those usually list publication order and any short novellas. When I’ve got a series, I usually read in publication order unless the author explicitly provides a chronological reading guide. That way character development and revelations land the way the author intended. Also watch for prequel novellas: I tend to save those until after the main book unless the author says the prequel is fine as a starting point. If translations or different editions exist, check the publisher’s notes for numbering quirks. I once started a summer book too early and spoiled a later twist for myself—lesson learned. Ultimately, check the publisher/author page, follow publication order, and allow yourself a lazy afternoon with lemonade and 'Hello Summer'.

Are there any sequels to this one summer book?

I was obsessed with 'One Summer' by David Baldacci the moment I read it. The emotional depth and relatable characters made it unforgettable. From what I know, there isn’t a direct sequel, but Baldacci’s 'The Christmas Train' has a similar vibe—cozy, heartfelt, and perfect for those who loved the warmth of 'One Summer.' If you’re craving more books with that bittersweet summer feel, I’d recommend 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' trilogy by Jenny Han. It’s packed with nostalgia, romance, and family drama. Another great option is 'We Were Liars' by E. Lockhart, which has that same mix of sun-soaked days and hidden secrets. While 'One Summer' stands alone, these books might scratch that itch for more stories with its emotional punch and seasonal charm.
