“I leaned on the shelf to rest,” I said, rushing my words, “and my hand slipped, taking some books off. I just decided to remove more and rearrange them, but eventually, I couldn’t.”
I exhaled, frustration rising. “And I don’t like that I can’t move anywhere without being monitored or stared at like I’m a child! Marco did the same thing, and see what it led to. Just leave me alone.”
I dropped the remaining books with a dull thud, grabbed my walker, and started towards the direction I came from, trying to move faster even though the pain in my foot protested.
