“Is there any chance you have a photo of Caiden? It would make things simpler. I doubt that Caiden is the name you’ll find him using if you come across him.” Clara shook her head. “He wasn’t visible to anyone apart from other demons and myself. I can draw him though.” She retrieved her sketchbook from her bag and started work on a very detailed sketch of Caiden. She took her time and when she handed the sketch over to Arthur, she was satisfied that she had drawn him true to life. “Hmm,” Arthur said as he looked the sketch over. “He’s good looking. I’ll give him that. I’m not sure I can use this too well. A sketch isn’t quite a substitute for the capabilities of a photograph.”

“Awful. Meetings. Idiots. And now this.” Her jaw clenched. “You could at least pretend to like me.” “Why? You don’t pretend to like me. Clara sighed and decided that maybe she could fix its bindings before returning them. She picked up the loosened page, and unlike the burnt one which she had read last night, this one did really belong to the book. And there she found an almost faded sketch of a gilded hand with fingers that were slender and nails that looked more like claws. It seemed to be holding a heart, dripping blood collected into a pool beneath it.

"Can I see the drawing you made for him?" Clara hesitated for a second, then grabbed Maitê’s hand and pulled her inside the building, toward the cafeteria where the children did crafts. Rafael followed them, happy to see the two of them holding hands. Clara opened a colorful cardboard folder and showed the drawing: a tall man in a suit (clearly Rafael), a woman with long hair beside him, and a little girl in the middle holding both their hands. She signed slowly, pointing to each figure. Rafael translated out loud for Maitê.
