We were all seated in the departure lounge, waiting for my gate number to be announced. Gwen had not yet arrived, and the flight was scheduled for the next ten minutes. “She just can't go anywhere without her lover, now can she?” Elena said with disgust. I followed her gaze until I spotted Gwen. She was accompanied by the same man I had seen her with in the office parking lot. He was helping her with her luggages and they were both grinning widely. I clenched my fist as fury welled up inside me.

She closed her laptop slightly, giving me her full attention. "No. No problem. I just wanted to confirm it, that's all." I shrugged, trying to look like I didn't care. "Why?" "Nothing. Just checking." Gwen stared at me, her green eyes searching my face as if she were looking for a crack in the armor. After a long moment, she let out a frustrated sigh. "Okay." She looked back down at her screen. "Did you guys talk about anything else?" I asked, the words out of my mouth before I could stop them. "Aside from the date?"

“I knew you were going to say that, Gina, but come on. It’s going to be fun, and it’ll take your mind off things, even if it's just for the night. I've promised to help you speak to my father, cheer up!” I still didn't feel like attending any party and declined. “You can go without me, Gwen. I really don’t feel like going out.” “I can’t go without you, Gina,” Gwen insisted. “We’re the double G: Gwen and Gina. I can’t go without my partner.” She smiled, and then nudged at me playfully as she began singing the ridiculous song she made up using our names. I laughed and knew I couldn't say no to a free-spirited person like Gwen who wouldn't take no for an answer.

Time passes and she has not seen many of her friends in a while. She had not even seen Ace and realized how much she missed him. And so, Gwen works overtime and takes a day off so that she can go to Estril. She goes in secret and goes to Fort Brimburg. As she was led out with her hands cuffed behind her, she caught sight of me standing outside the door, watching everything with a cold expression on my face.
