Joe Pickett Novel Novels & Stories

I looked up at the camera that was in the kitchen and flipped it off. “Very ladylike.” “You didn’t hire me to be a lady.” He sighed. “That’s true. I forgot to tell you. Joe is residing in Jackson. You could go visit him. You liked him…right?” I thought back to the last Joe that was in the Faction. He was a gruff man, but a heart of gold. I was surprised that he was even in the Faction. You had to be a certain type of person to kill, and I just couldn’t see Joe as being one of those people.

"Doctor, please help my wife." 7 PM "The baby's here!" A baby's cry filled the room, and Joe breathed a sigh of relief. The room was bustling with nurses attending to mother and baby. "She's beautiful, just like her mother. Congratulations, Mr. Joe, it's a girl." In the midst of the activity, the nurses gossiped. Joe overheard that his uncle's wife had been kidnapped by Raffaele after being discovered for murdering wealthy businessman Steve Perhaps, Joe's uncle. "Doctor Joe, someone wants to see you."

I nervously asked, "Joe, did I offend you?" Joe's expression softened, almost as if the tension had eased. "I'm sorry, Becky," he said, "No, you didn't insult me at all. In fact, I think you're an interesting person. I'm so glad I came today. I didn't want to, but then I found out that this was your home. I hope it doesn't sound too creepy. You're the only one I've met here who wasn't looking for information, so I find you interesting. I'm a private person, and I keep things to myself. But I'll answer your questions for you. If you can promise me that whatever we talk about, we'll keep it private, even from your husband."
