It was something I would never unsee if I mistakenly saw it. Then it rang. Out of instincts, I grabbed it and picked the call. "Who is this?" I said in a monotone voice. "Give me back my damn phone!" I flinched at the way the voice shouted. "I didn't steal it, you have mine." I rolled my eyes, recognizing the voice immediately. "I don't have time for your stupid games. I need that phone." He said. "You have no right to speak rudely to me. I can drop the phone in water you know." I frowned.

By late evening, my phone went off and when I looked, I was surprised to see Tessa’s father’s name appear on my screen. Rick: Can we talk?

I said, forcing my voice into a higher, lighter tone. ​"Yara! Oh my god, thank turnip you picked up," Tessa’s voice blasted through the speaker, loud. "I’ve been trying to call you for a while now, but your phone kept going straight to voicemail. Are you okay? Is that scary athlete doing something to you?" ​"I'm fine, Tess. I promise," I said, sitting on the edge of the bed. I kept my hand pressed over my chest to stop the trembling. "The phone reception is just terrible sometimes. How are you? Are you still in New Jersey?"

I uttered as I took the roses from him. He chuckled, "Come on it's nothing." My phone rang interrupting the conversation. A smile marred my face as I saw the caller ID. "Excuse me," I mumbled before picking it up. Me: Hey, Tiana how is work going? I asked as I picked up the call. Tiana: it's going well just boring without you, how are you feeling? Me: I'm good. What about you? Hope you had something to eat. I heard Tiana chuckle before she started to speak.

I muttered, "I'm not completely thrilled about the idea but I guess it's all we have for now so thank you." Thorne's lips split into a cheesy grin but before he could say anything, my phone began vibrating in my sweatpants pockets. I held up a finger to tell both Quade and Thorne to give me a second as I fished my phone out. In bold writing flashed Tiana's name. My brows furrowed in confusion, wondering why she would be phoning me so late. Without giving it a second thought, I swiped the screen to answer, "Hey, what's up?"
