"So, that's why you want a divorce. You've got another woman. Don't think you can get rid of me. I'm pregnant with your child!" Yvonne's expression dimmed. I patted her hand to reassure her. Then, I looked at Wendy and scoffed. "Are you sure the child's mine and not Julian's?" A flicker of guilt flashed in her eyes. She clenched her hands to force herself to stay composed. She put on a wounded expression. "I know you're bothered by how close I am with Julian, but we grew up together. There's nothing between us. He lives next door. Do you expect me to treat him like a stranger and never say a word to him?

She's my ex-wife. But why couldn't I accept the reality that she was no longer my wife? Instead, after we crossed paths again, I found myself yearning for her even more. However, each time I saw her, the guilt of being an unworthy husband overwhelmed me. I regretted my actions, but I had been blinded by material wealth. Lost in my thoughts, my contemplation was interrupted by the sudden ringing of my cellphone on the desk. Checking the caller ID, a smirk formed on my lips as I saw her name, Exelle's name, displayed on the screen.

I was about to answer her when she continued speaking. "Oh well, what else should I expect from a shameless woman? Ladies like you are not welcome because you won't gain anything from them, unlike if it's a guy... for sure they're welcome here." She looked at me from head to toe. "Just like my husband.. he's very much welcome here right?" She smiled at me so sweetly. I bit my lower lip and couldn't do anything when she suddenly bumped into my left shoulder and walked past me, sitting on the single couch.

Cassandra, I wanted to tell her how terrified I was while she acted as if everything was fine. A sprained and bruised foot… that was far from fine. She truly didn’t understand how dangerous the situation could have been for her. I thought about it over and over again from my house next door. Yes, now we are neighbors, all because I wanted to stay close to her. I went to her house immediately, and together with Miles, we cooked porridge for Cassandra. Everything went very well, with her finishing the porridge completely. Unbeknownst to her, I was now watching her sleep. She looked so peaceful, despite having faced so many storms.

He doesn’t even spare me a glance. “Lena is not a slave, and I need her to…” “Go” he cuts me off. “The woman would not be leaving.” “But…” “That’s final. Now leave Maria.” Walter roars with laughter along with the scantily dressed women perched on his laps. “Dear me! I’ve heard about the way you discipline the women in your household, but I didn’t think it extended to even your wife.” Cheeks burning in humiliation, I hurry out of the room with Walter’s maid before Sebastain can say something worse.

“You live in a secluded plot of land, you have only two neighbours and they're five miles away from your house and for Christ sake, they don't have a fucking cat.” I scowled. “How come you know so much about my bloody life?” She rolled her eyes, hip tilting to the side. “Try again, Rosie.” “It was a stray cat.” “Your neighborhood pest control agent makes sure there are no animals in the vicinity.” “What the fuck does that even mean? And who even came up with that?” I squinted, in astonishment. “The General's wife, Mrs Su. How do you not know that?” she muttered dryly.

As long as she remained safe and happy, I needed nothing else. As I fixed us something to eat, I told her how our neighbors were doing. She was friendly with our neighbors, but since she was due to give birth in the next few months, she has stayed home. The wives of other farmers in the area would visit her when they could, but she always seemed happy to hear about how things were going outside.

Hell no! Maybe a crush? Hell yes! Her next-door neighbors had the looks that could set any woman up , The fact that Mrs. Allen had men chasing after her left and right, even with her married to an equally gorgeous Mr. Allen was proof that Mr. Allen needs to put in more effort if he wants to keep his wife by his side. They were both gorgeous couples and a perfect fit!

But then I reminded myself that this was a safe place, a neighborhood far removed from all the complications of our past. Opening the door, I was greeted by a warm smile from a woman who looked to be in her mid-thirties, holding a casserole dish in her hands. Beside her was a man with a friendly expression and two children, a boy and a girl around Daphne’s age. “Bonsoir!” the woman greeted, her French accent light and cheerful. “I’m Camille, and this is my husband, Marc. We live next door and just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood.”

I'm your Maid, it's not the other way around. "You're also my friend and it's not such a bad thing to help you out if you're helping me, as a friend." She opened her mouth to say something but my phone chimed which automatically distracted her. I grouchily took the phone from the bed to read whatever message just popped in. I was expecting a message from Alvin but it instead is a message from an unknown ID and it read: *** Hey, hey, hey, new 'wife'. That title of being a wife might not last for as long as you think because I'm on a mission to eliminate your husband. If you love him and care about his life, you should return home because I'm
